  1. quickly done, but you get the idea! I reckon a lot of the varieties could be identified so much easier by field identification. This is really rushed from low res images, but I think it's got some good potential in a book, a new way of simplifying things! Always happy to do any serious design work for a good cause!
  2. This is another classic example of something I spoke about ages ago! And that is looking at field shapes! If we try to see small differences in helmet and plume shapes, our brain gets confused, but IF we look at the shape of the little field enclosed in that region, it's altogether a different animal! Using the shape of the field is often far more decisive, I don't know why this hasn't been done before?
  3. Nearly 1/2 ton of pennies? That should see a few of them off! Sounds like an intriguing project, do share when it's come to fruition! I can't help, but I'm sure a few kilos could be rustled up on here?
  4. This is just the best forum ever!
  5. Bloody hell, have we lost him for another year?
  6. I prefer these big old pennies to the bronze issues! Nice coin!
  7. I fully take on your point and wasn't suggesting that decimals are the way for dealers (eBay hobbyist dealers - maybe) to go, but was simply trying to make the point that just because decimal werent seen as true coins by some collectors doesn't make them any less valid as a collectible.I've bought a lot of decimals from this very site, Rich! I've even decided on my two 2015 keepers out of a pile of 2ps and 5ps! Always a collector!
  8. Hey Garoyn, welcome to the madhouse, the coin forum for the numismatically insane!
  9. Put me down for a Class 10cf5 penny!
  10. Peter, just read your post! What a shocker of a toned list that is, TG! Satisfying to see by the bidding that they aren't appreciated by anyone else either. Pete, I think it was something to do with 'something' and heat (oven possibly)? I can't remember now, though have read about it in the past. Never stuck in my mind as useful for anything, surprisingly!
  11. It'll be a penny, then!
  12. Thank goodness you asked, Charlie, that's an appalling example. I'm amazed you could live with the rims on that, it's my greatest issue. I personally really struggle with even the lightest nicks on edges.
  13. Agree with the above! Incidentally, I noticed you signal as 'searching' in your screen shot! You're not with EE by any chance are you? We've had three weeks of atrocious service from them!
  14. Here's crown 15... ...but I think that's about it without a bit more info., palves!
  15. Maybe a halfpenny, it's got a HyB obverse? Could do with a weight and/or size, really? When I first saw it my initial thoughts were class 15 crown, because of the two left-leaning ornaments? It's just missing that second R in the legend though? I think size and weight are needed, to be honest!
  16. A shame, as it was the most powerful post war documentary I've watched!
  17. Shocking! However, I'm intrigued to know how it is you know Bill?
  18. Pre-strike, of course! So the flan, rather than the coin.
  19. Let's not have him enjoy the break too much! We'll never get him back once the S&M gets started!
  20. That seals it then, Jag! They seem reasonably up front on the proxy system!Congrats on the wins!
  21. Chances are coinery if you get it ,will be at your top bid and not less.Yes, it's not very often I get a nice surprise with proxy bids! Well, I've just won a nice little lot of 5 UNC or near so late victoria sixpences at £180, whereas I was willing to go to £220, so I'm £40 to the good on my max bid.Well done, Dave, and that's reassuring to hear!I fell short by £35 so not my day! But there are plenty others!
  22. I thought you were trying to drag Peckris out of retirement?
  23. Starting to look statistically unethical!
  24. Thanks, gents! Reassuringly unreassuring!
