    Elizabeth I Bust 6B & 1F

Many thanks, Dave and Mark, very much appreciated! I'll be putting them on my resource website for E1, just as soon as I've the time to create it! www.elizabeth-coins.co.uk - maybe never, but I hope not!
  2. Hah, well done Prax, glad to see you holding back! Lovely coin!
  3. http://www.serif.com/pageplus/ I got totally carried away after that, but deleted it, thinking 'enough's enough!'
  4. 'I threw me pitchfork at your dog to keep quiet!' Written for our new £2 Britannia! Ok, so it's nice and contemporary, but where's the quality in its strike? The blue image of the design looks promising, the coin itself...?
  5. I honestly don't get it, Mark? Elizabeth I turned out some sharper milled coins 450 years ago!
  6. Toast anyone? It does seem to be another lazy design. What ever happened to the fine detail we used to find on farthings, and the even smaller denominations of the early 20th century? Has all our advances in technology made it harder, rather than easier, to emulate the artwork of times past?

A Rather lovely Bust 4D - thanks very much for the extra images, Rob, much appreciated!
  8. I thought Saltford was one of your recommended regulars? It only stands out for me as I lived for a number of years in Bath, and passed through Salford on my way to work in Bristol? Never met or dealt with them myself I must add!

    CROWNS

I always thought you to be passionate about EVERY little detail of the series you collected?
  10. Crafty old dog must be watching from the wings, then?
  11. Yes, where is the old bean? I most expected him on the 'choice' thread, what with it being a GV HC in debate! Not like him at all! Anyone PM'd him?

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

We are talking at crossed purposes, Stuart. Dave's post references an 1862 florin, which is what I replied about. I agree with you, if we are talking godless 1849 florin. Oooooops, sorry Nick et al. God only knows how I crossed threads with that. I was recently reading the other godless thread, and just jumped to all kinds of fancy conclusions re this one!I humbly backtrack to my waterway hole!

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

"Extremely rare...almost impossible to locate in any grade"WHAT? They are rare and not easy to obtain, but I think I'd save his description for the 1863 florin. I have to say, that hasn't been my experience! Maybe they've got harder at the same time the gothic crown moved out of reach, I don't know, I'm pretty out of touch at the moment?I had a PCGS one for sale for ages...nearly gave it away to Japan in the end! Had an obliterated ww that didn't go anywhere fast, either.

    grading

It looks like it's spent some time in water, sea or river, as it's rather smoothed? Also, without seeing the other side, there looks to be a plugged edge-hole at 9 O'clock? Nice bit of history, but not a collector's piece if there are better examples around for a few extra quid. Thanks for bringing it on here, though! Talking of Edwards, I was staggered to find a beautiful tomb in Gloucester Cathedral last week, which belongs to Edward II. I instantly wanted to collect Edward II coins, just to build on the sense of history I felt, standing before this king's burial spot! Amazing!
