    Ebay's Worst Offerings

My immediate reaction given past experience is that this must be a copy, anyone have a different view? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311876270618?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

  6. I'm impressed with the quality of this catalogue that landed today
  7. Just a way of 'tagging' someone. useful I think ... @Nordle11 introduced it to the Forum a while back I think when he became an Admin, mind you I don't think he has posted on here for a while ...
  8. It simply notifies Neil about this message, so more chance that he will see it - nothing more!
  9. @NRPplease include Rob on the Baldwins at St James catalogue mailing list!
  10. A little longer than that I hope Rob! Your wants are very different to mine, I was commenting on the quality of the hard copy catalogue, must have cost a lot to produce! There are a number of very early pennies, no idea if any of them are of interest to you in terms of mint/moneyer etc! Get back on their mailing list!

    Newbie Alert.

And it's a big welcome from me too, you'll get a lot out of this community, particularly if it's English pre-decimal coins that float your boat

    Beginner Questions

Welcome LGS As 1949 says, try to sort them a little first, and then many of us on here can advise once you post some pics, especially of pre-1971 British coins. If most of them are in bags it does not suggest rarity or high value, but you never know. Any pre-1947 silver-coloured British coins will contain at least 50% real silver, so they wil be worth their silver content at a minimum

    New pound coin

More appalling quality control (or more likely, specification), I have long since lost interest in modern decimals. Apart from being able to find them in your change from time to time, I am missing something as far as collectability goes!
  19. 1891 Keeper acquired, old CGS pics I will try and post better! Loving the definition in the shield!
  20. Yes 0.5g off is quite a lot, do you have pics?
  21. I have an 1812 I am happy with
  22. 15g according to Tony Clayton's site! http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/coins.html

    1988 pound coin

He even states it's not genuine ...
  24. Welcome to the Forum Kariios! This site specialises more in pre-decimal coins, but there is plenty of knowledge on decimal too. The quality control at the Royal Mint these days is abysmal, and these sorts of errors occur frequently. My guess is that you may find someone willing to pay more than 50p for it (plus postage), your best bet being the likes of eBay.
