    Good coin dealers

Hi WildCamper There are many reputable dealers, many specialise a little, so what are you looking to collect?
  2. Really happy to share what I have learnt, PM me
  3. Very nice MBE! I recently upgraded my Roman I to this one from Rob:

    CROWNS

Very hard to capture in pics too, which is part of the problem!
  5. How does this one look to you all? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261009115957?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648#ht_500wt_1413
  6. Yep, go for it! Although if eBay and paid by Paypal, you may well get refunded if you report it

    1849 penny

I agree with Stuart, the reverse does not quite make EF for me either, EF/NEF
  8. Ordered this from Rob last night, looks to have some nice toning (halfpenny)
  9. Some major appeal on the reverses there especially! Not sure if I have posted this one before on here, grading opinions? (Halfcrown)

    Crown 1934 - Grading Competition

Blimey a 1934 proof crown would be worth £fortunes I imagine!
  14. Paulus

    Crown 1934 - Grading Competition

    Penny 1912 - UNC

When this coin was graded, CGS 80 was described as UNC - it may well say this on the slab - they changed their descriptions a few years ago so that 78 became UNC, 70 aUNC etc I have just bought an 1861 shilling which is CGS 78 and described on the slab as AU

    Authentication of Stuart era coins.

The weight always helps, also posting pics on this Forum. A lot of quality stuff will have provenance too, always ask for it

  21. In my limited experience I have used acetone very sparingly and very carefully, but never on proof coins - and I have never found that it removes fingerprints - they (fingerprints) are pretty much there to stay I think. I just nowadays try to avoid them in the first place, although, like many, I have made mistakes in the past
