I'll take it Pete, will save you on postage
-
Yes it's the London Coin Company, not London Coins, who are linked with CGS (to say the least) (not PCGS) The 2 companies and the 2 TPGs, are VERY similarly named
-
Except that it almost certainly never happened!
-
Better add it to the list for the new Freeman then!
-
Tractor error more like!

Coin Image in B.S.C.

Just had a peek on CGS, looks like rather a scarce variety! -
I also messaged this person asking for the weight .... 4 replies stressing that he had had it looked at by collectors, it was just over 28g, and he had been offered £3k for it
-
I can well imagine what you said Pete!
-
Good purchase there MBE
-
Looks like you (or someone) has nabbed it @mrbadexample, I hope it was you, you won't regret it!
-
Totally with you oz, buy the coin not the slab, and largely ignore the population stats, always At the moment on balance slabbed coins certainly fetch a premium, that's for sure
-
That's a good idea Oz, the threepence seems to be in high demand too ...
-
Do you have the eBay link ozjohn? The CGS link you have posted is not a finest known, it is 10 out of 18, and was previously graded by NGC as AU58, which I agree looks more realistic from the pics alone
-
There is quite a nice one up for auction here: http://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/4650441-great-britain-wreath-crown-1927-george-v-silver @mrbadexample
-
My thoughts also, but perhaps back in the day it was considered ok?
-
Morning MBE. Like you, I needed an example of a wreath crown a while back, being a type collector, and the 1927 proof seemed the best route to high grade for my buck. I think the one in your post looks ok (as in genuine), but it does have slight wear (noticeable on the thistles, for example), and that ding you mention ... you could do a little better for the same money imo, or better still for not a lot more. If it helps, I went for this from a DNW auction in June 2013 for £250 all in, and I subsequently had it graded as CGS 85 (Choice UNC -BU)

Obverse pictures to the left (according to D&H). No idea what the greeny patch is, possibly weird toning? Doesn't look to be anything to worry about though ...
