I'd have to agree Thanks Dave, it's taken me long enough!

I think I've made some improvements to my photography set up now

The 1862/, 8/6, also looks like it is a 1862/1....... http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?searchterm=1862+penny&searchtype=1&page=Catalogue Bob, when I click on your facebook link I get a message that I'm not part of the audience for that page - any suggestions ? Works OK for me ... nice to see that Martin and David are together at last

I'm not sure what triggers it (an Admin like Tom Goodheart (Richard) will know), but I think you can edit once you have made a certain no. of posts (100?), and then for a number of minutes (?) after you have posted -
Couldn't agree more

Italian coins to identify

I mean this :https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jubilee_(Christianity) next is going to be in 2016 .... Can you imagine how many people will visit Rome ? Of course will increase also the number of turist gadgets seller ( medals included ) ... Right, thanks, I had absolutely no idea! -
I find the same in Facebook coin groups I belong to, fewer than 10% regularly contribute, more than 75% never seem to, but they are still well worth visiting regularly If anyone is interested, there is https://www.facebook.com/groups/englishhammeredandmilledcoins/?fref=ts https://www.facebook.com/groups/562088370584093/ (British Pre-Decimal Coin Collectors Group £sd) https://www.facebook.com/groups/Englishmilledcoinage/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/352633061466108/?fref=ts (English coins for sale and wanted) and many others Many are in need of more members to achieve 'critical mass'. "English coins for sale and wanted" seems to have the most members (> 4,000) and the most activity, lots of discussions, sales and auctions, several pre-dec members on there too, including Chris. Way too much decimal content for me though.

I have to profess ignorance, sorry! What Jubilee is that Matteo? What is Neto Scott? -
Never slab during an up coming auction, the consignments take priority over fee paying customers which I find disgusting tbh Just to point out that I deliberately sent my latest small batch to CGS shortly after the last LC Auction had finished (mid September), in the hope of minimising delays!

Yes, he is now, but closely connected to the IOM of course ... well could be anyone then! Er, Emerson Fittipaldi!? If you are reading this Emerson, please say Hi

Sorry about the acronyms and abbreviations. ESC is the abbreviation for English Silver Coinage, an important reference book listing varieties and relative rarities of English silver coins since 1649. Recently updated and re-issued by Spink link You may of course find it cheaper elsewhere ...

Not a "worst offering", I know it's THE rare year of this series, but Heavens to Murgatroyd! link

Thanks Stuntman, I think so too! This newbie has some nice delicate toning (get the impression I am bored with plain silver-looking coins?) -
All the best paulus.

Thanks all for your kind wishes! -
And this is why I do not collect decimals! Nordle is right, many, many do and buy them straight from the Mint as soon as they are released. The chances of ever getting your money back if you needed to sell are virtually zero, in nearly all cases. The first "£20 for £20" and the £100 Big Ben (which were sold by the RM at FV and free post) are rare exceptions ... not selling for much above FV, but at least in these examples the secondary market is currently higher than the initial outlay.

I could not agree more, how did your professional photographer get on, any results to share yet? I'd like to mention that both Alan Worby and the seller of the 1903 Florin have expressly given me permission to re-use their pics. -

Thanks Pete, I wish I could take credit for the pics, I am getting better at coin photography, but they are not my pics (although they are my coins!). Most importantly, they are an accurate representation of the coins 'in-hand'. The 1821 is CGS pics (yes, they are MUCH better at pics these days (most of the time!), the 1903 is credited to one of my favourite on-line sellers of the moment, and the bull head is courtesy of Alan at mhcoins (a member here), who also happens to have a professional coin photography service. -

Thanks Bob, as you may have noticed, I like a bit of (natural) toning!
