    Ebay's Worst Offerings

What's the UIN Dave? Let me know, I will PM you with what I know of their process

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

This batch has taken longer than previous ones, SC says complete on Friday (although I hadn't chased) which would be 65 days ... well within their 90 but I used to get 35. My batch of 7 has been at the 'finalising' stage for 3 weeks, pending attribution should come before that, do you mean 'pending encapsulation'? Have they assigned a UIN to your coin yet, and if so, what is it?

He is also promoting this on Facebook, stating it is 'close to uncirculated' ... he definitely DOES know better! link

    Coin restorer?

I may want to use him too ...
  6. Following the popularity and drool-worthy pics from the 'toned milled silver' and 'toned bronze/copper' equivalent threads, I thought I would start this one ... looking forward to seeing some stunning examples and gorgeous photography! I'll kick off with a couple from my meagre (but slowly growing) hammered collection

Just your luck, plenty of interest, underbidder?

    Slaney 2

Gosh, no! Not enough pennies at present for purchases. What was the hammer on that one anyway? . £1000

    eye-watering stuff
  10. Fabulous bust, so glad this thread has given us this visual treat! However much effort it had taken to produce these pics Rob, it is worth it!
  11. I'm loving these, wishing I had started collecting them when they were more affordable relative to disposable income (assuming that was the case in the last 40 years!)
  12. That's a great looking coin and pic Rob
  13. Superb one DaveShe almost looks appealing there Hubba hubba

    Guess The Grade Revisted

They aren't far from me, and I have visited twice, but normally I post. I am not a serial slabber, less than 0.1% of my coins are slabbed, but every few months I send them a small batch ... I find they are consistently very strict, both with grade and whether they will assign a grade at all, but, like others, see some inconsistency with their photography (especially in the early years), and have questions in my mind regarding their grading of coins submitted by parties with close connections or vested interests

    Guess The Grade Revisted

Coin 3, Coinery (Stuart) will recognise this one, 1901 Half Crown ... weak at the lance, what did they make of that I wonder?
  16. Another day it would be different. I just wish I could take consistent pictures. Trying to find a happy balance of flash, natural light, shading the flash to stop glare, and all the other settings on the camera is a nightmare. Couldn't agree more Rob ... I gave up with flash some time ago though, have you tried lighting the subject with daylight bulbs?
  17. I thought Rob scanned his coins, maybe I should try it! Either way, it shows some very nice toning ...
  18. Yes, I agree, I don't get any quality tone at all from the pictures!Do you ever try to correct the lighting/saturation/etc. with software, or are these straight off the camera? Straight off the camera Stu, which I believe is pretty faithful to what it is 'seeing'. I only see the toning 'in-hand' when it is tilted at certain angles, in a certain light. I don't like to play with the pic with software, somehow it seems 'wrong' (I work in IT and not a technophobe!). I think my pics have improved but would love to produce the sort of quality that I see from DNW and BRG ... yours are pretty good too!
  19. I will delve into medieval and earlier at some point, I have no doubt! I was going to sell this, but now back in the fold Again, beautifully toned, but not evident enough in the pics
  20. S-S-S-Sort of! The top one is the ex-Heritage ex-NGC slab one from TG, the second from Rob, both posted previously when I acquired them, but hopefully better pics, although still not showing blue and gold toning off

    LCA - Jun 2015

Yes. Without the UIN it is difficult to know roughly when the coin was graded. Their 'June Catalogue' link has disappeared, temporarily I expect.
