I agree Damian, there is no way that that one is 'UNC or near so', from the pics at least

Some of you may remember a Charles I Shilling with unusual legend double-striking that Richard posted a few months ago, and suggested he might be open to offers. Well given my renewed interest in late hammered I have today acquired this coin, which I like for many reasons (Sorry Stu, I know you don't like these!)

Must be a fake from Ali Express, bugger

I'm guessing that Richard already had a much better example of this very common variety, but was tempted to snaffle it anyway ... nonetheless I would like to see pics of Richard's best example

Then go. I've had a table there every month for a couple years now but never met you. Mothers' Day this Sunday - so treat her to a coin fair visit. After all, it's the thought that counts. Mothers' Day in the US Rob, we've had the UK one this year! -
I have bought from choco and would do so again

It's an interesting question. Why would it cost more to grade a higher value coin? Why does it cost more to sell a higher value house through an estate agent? Why would it take less time to attribute, grade and slab a hammered coin? I have sent a number of coins to CGS, for various reasons. They have never charged me more if I have stated a coin as costing less than £200 and they have valued it at considerably more, but the value should the coin be lost in the post is an interesting, although hopefully moot, point.

Aha, that is enlightening Rob, thanks, so perhaps similar in that regard to the G5 Wreath crowns? -

I'm looking Stu, it's a gaping hole in my milled silver collection, a gap I've lived with for 7 years or more wondering if I would ever fill it! It would break the budget even though I consider it to be a fair price for the grade, and despite the imperfections it ticks many of the eye appeal boxes. It's better in hand than those pics, I will take some later in the week. I still have some confusion regarding regular issue Gothic crowns such as this, are they proofs, or not? Not, according to Spink, but according to some auction and dealer listings I have been researching they seem to be graded as aFDC or FDC sometimes ... -
Sounds like it! Would you be surprised Stu?

See various rants in the TPG thread! There is a ton of mis-attributed, over-graded, and fake stuff out there, on balance I would say TPGs help to limit it, but once slabbed it is often taken as gospel .... if you can spot a coin that has been mis-attributed there are bargains to be found
-
TPGs make mistakes, I would always trust Rob's attribution over theirs On a brighter note, EF sounds right judging by the obverse, do you have a pic of the reverse?
-
Zooie...Here is a Half Penny with the 1st "1" way above the date area!...... That one really stands out bob Very good Pete!

Gonna stick with silver crowns and opt for 1825 crown,1831 crown and Gothic crown -
Semra's phone manner has been the subject of comments before! The charge for coins values under £200 hasn't gone down, it used to be £11.99 until some time mid-2013. What are you up to anyway?!?

It's all Greek to me

Wouldn't have wanted it, it's horrible, just immersing myself in what's going on with Charlie One
-
Am I missing something here or is it just being shilled? TG? link

That is of course assuming the dealer can sell it at that price, why pay that if you can get it cheaper at auction?
