Is this Question Impossible!?
Danelaw posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I just had thought, how much would it cost to have a fair(ish) coin of every Monarch since 1066, to say...up to William and Mary? Any figures available out there? -

Think I've pinned this down to Faustina11. Can anyone tell me otherwise. 230 odd grams, big old bronze! Wife of Marcus Aurelius.

It can take an age in London. Still waiting for the report on a Roman ring from the Thames. Last year They are swamped with finds and you're limited to ten finds a visit.

Had an appointment at neurology unit at Queen Square today, one street from Spink. I took the opportunity of taking the above coin to see if I could get a ball park figure from them, or to see if it was worth going to auction, just some general advice. A fella I hadn't seen before duly took the coin to show someone who I do know, who was out the back. He came back a few minutes later and said it wasn't right. He held the coin on it's edge ,drew it across some white paper and said "it shouldn't do that" When I got home I drew ten hammered coins across some white paper and got exactly the same result! Have I got eleven counterfeit hammereds!? .

The World's Most Beautiful Coin!?
Danelaw posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
http://www.antique-collecting.co.uk/worlds-most-beautiful-coin-for-sale/ Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder but...That is a bit of a boast! Personally, it wouldn't even reach my top hundred. -
The World's Most Beautiful Coin!?
Danelaw replied to Danelaw's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Perhaps I was being a tad disingenuous. Of course it is a rather special coin, just doesn't do it for me. The Petition Crown and the Oxford Crown are both stunning, I would find room for them both -

I popped in to see Steve Hill at the Strand only to find he has gone. Does anyone know anything about this, where he has gone? Always liked Steve, very approachable fella'.

I went in last Friday Rob, Neil told me he was in the building but busy because it was his last day.

Spoke to a top dealer yesterday, around £300 without seeing it. A bit more when seen in hand I reckon I may keep this one myself.

Going for recording on the 20th next month Peter, Museum of London(with a silver Roman ring I had) Happy days!
-
Thanks Peter, the more I search the luckier I get Can't find a single image of this coin anywhere. Not one!

Thanks very much Rob. It's very odd in as much as the area this coin comes from produces Aethelreds. This is the fourth one and all bar none are rare mints, one extremely rare! Two other silver hammered coins also in spitting distance. There's a hoard being washed up, I'm pretty certain.
