  3. A what is called "minor" variety , a nice coin by the way , should increase its selling power by 50 per cent , as long as you can find a minor variety collector. A freeman 530 would have been better

    Guess the grade and price

That seriously is a very dificult coin to grade and I agree VF is far to low - its badly struck or more likely weekly struck . Its not far off EF in my opinion the trace of lutre says it all
  13. Typical poor reporting from the mail hacks - the edward Viii penny is NOT copper the last penny in copper apart from a couple of patterns or proofs was 1860. They repeatedly make basic mistakes like this even a schoolboy coul;d do a better job

    more FAKES

Lots of forgeries of 1/4 farthings are appearing on ebay and appear to be selling a good prices acording to compleated listings - they are obvious fakes and I suspect some dodgy deals are going on allong with shill bidding so any new collectors should stay well clear of these .

  20. Man who took uncle to post office 'didn't realise he'd died' 6 hrs ago 73 Comments| Peter Seabrook obituary ‘Thank you for rocking so hard’: Jack Black pays tribute to Meat Loaf A man who took his dead uncle into an Irish post office to claim his pension insists he did not realise he had passed away. © Other Police are investigating the incident. File pic Declan Haughney told the Irish Mirror he and another man took Peadar Doyle, 66, on a five-minute walk from his home on Pollerton Road, Carlow, to collect his pension last Friday morning. The 40-year-old said he had lived with his uncle throughout his life and believes he may have died on the way to Hosey's post office on Staplestown Road. He said he and another man linked arms with him and dragged him to the post office. "He was walking like normal and then I reckon he died," he said, adding that Mr Doyle started "dragging his heels" at one point. "We were grand like then all of a sudden he started going all slumpy," he said. "We thought nothing of it because Peadar had had heart attacks and all." He said they let him go at the post office counter and it was only after he dropped to the floor that they realised he had died. Mr Haughney said he believes he is being falsely accused of trying to claim his uncle's pension because he previously stole from his aunt and served two years in prison.

    Party time excellent

SURPRISE, SURPRISE. Downing Street has admitted that staff gathered inside No 10 to celebrate Boris Johnson's birthday when the first Covid lockdown was still in place. ITV News reports up to 30 people attended the June 2020 event, sang Happy Birthday and were served cake. No 10 said staff had "gathered briefly" to "wish the prime minister a happy birthday", adding that he had been there "for less than 10 minutes". Rules at the time banned most indoor gatherings of more than two people. ITV News said the birthday event had taken place in the Cabinet Room just after 2pm on 19 June 2020, adding that it had been a surprise for Mr Johnson after he returned from an official trip to a school in Hertfordshire. It also reported that family and friends had been hosted in the prime minister's residence that evening. But a No 10 spokesperson said: "This is totally untrue. In line with the rules at the time the prime minister hosted a small number of family members outside that evening." PM faces key week ahead of No 10 parties report Sue Gray report: What exactly is she looking at? Under the Covid restrictions at the time, up to six people could gather outside, in a socially distanced manner. But gatherings inside of two or more people were still not permitted indoors, except for certain reasons such as work or education.
