"Freedom of information" requests to the Royal Mint

I would imagine any details about these are lost in the mists of time -
1860 TB farthings often show a week strike, they still suffered with similar probs till about 1872 when they started to produce a better end product , although there was a steady improvement from 1860 onwards. The major problem was the beaded border and the relative hardness of the bronze coupled with the size of the farthing , steady progress was made for 12 years or so . Pennies and halfpence seemed to suffer less .

Is it obvious what metal this coin is it does not look like silver , could it be pewter and toned over the years before it was found? Looks a bit like cast pewter which puts it in very dodgy ground

Farthing upgrades and queries
copper123 replied to Paddy's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Like the 1739 , 1746 and 1749 as well first two are fairly common the 1749 is a bit scarcer - nice chocolate tones as well on those three. -

The 1721 farthing with a dot is not as rare as the 1721/0 but I would hazard a guess at 10 out of 100 random coins of this date would be about right the 1721/0 is probably about 4 in a 100 -
I found this 2015 £2 coin in my change the other day , to be honest it looks like a proof or at least an ex set or something , the thing that made me check it twice was the prooflike appearence , it just seemed interesting . After checking out the coin I suddenly realised it has no "STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS" on the edge this is really dificult to picture but trust me there is just the normal reeded edge and no sign of the letters which appear on all £2 coins 1998-2015 to the best of my (little) knowledge.
