a nice reverse well struck dark finish
-
yes that is more likely , as you can see its got almost full black lustre
-
As we are on the subject of farthings heres one my edward collection 1909 the obverse is close to perfect
-
TBH that 1906 penny looks cleaned as well are you sure its near unc? Perfect example of a badly struch edwardian bronze coin Obverse of the 1888 groat lets it down big time though the reverse is great
-
better investment than a 1887 as well , totally yummy coin - dont spoil it with a slab!
-
The unfortunate thing about these mint darkened farthings esp the war ones,is they can be badly struck and the part of the coin that is usualy badly struck is britannias head this often leaves many collectors with the wrong impresion as regards grade . A coin can be unc or near to and end up looking less than EF grade with a badly struck head . TBH these coins are a bit of a nightmare to grade anyway . The best thing you (the collector) can do is just get a coin that pleases you and stick with it , in the end very little else matters. If you like a coin you can bet your bottom dollar another person will as well, so although common it should have a resale value .

"There is some lovely venison down south already" Yeer but it pays a fortune to live down there so in the end it ends up topping itself by running into a car or something
-
Tatton park venison is lovely . Why should we send you decent venison down south? We only send you the tough, old and fatty bits and leave the best bits for ourselves

I was on a short break in the lake district and happened to listen while a guy showing us how to work the new payment machine for the trip across windamere( by car) explained to a load of tourists that there was a 50p coin in circulation with kew gardens on the front worth £50 with only a few thousand put into circulation . I did put my ore in and explained that I had found at least ten over the years , he looked at me a bit strange like I never knew anything about the subject so I decided to keep quiet . This coin along with the undated 20p now seems to have entered a magic land of urban legends where anyone in the country can list a number of facts available that are totally not true . Thanks to the mail etc LOL

Yes I cannot belive that the guy with the AK47 five pound note is upset that he has not been sent his £80 000 via paypal . I always thought this country was full of idiots but he really takes the biscuit

A st helena halfpenny ? The place probably only had about twenty people living there unless you include napolean , not sure why they did not just use english coppers and silver .
-
would grade as Fine/ Good fine with both coins . Value ? Around £4 and £6 , they are common in this grade

The more this madness of an election goes on the dafter it gets . "I challenge her to a drugs test " The poor woman has only just come out of hospital. If trump wins at least all my ideas about the american people being slightly unhinged will be confirmed -

Looks like silver to me and being 1977 that would be appropriate
