    Baldwins new list

If you want to sell quickly CCC are your best bet . They would probably give you a free 1853 WWR copper farthing in similar grade for the chance to buy your farthing
  3. Also coins as a collectable item tend to be valued by collectors on their scarcity . Few coins from the 19th century deserve to be valued on their mintages alone for instance you would be lucky to get £5 for an 1860 bronze farthing (there are several varieties as well which should make the coin more valueable as most collectors will want them all). But if you have an 1863 farthing in EF you have a coin worth around £100

Personally I would value that 1844 farthing at around £700 you would struggle to get £500 off a dealer though

    My Latest Acquisition

I must admit that these lot on here are a right lot everytime upinsmoke puts a picture on you lot rush to point out the faults in it . Unless he collects those proof sets from 1970 onwards this lot will never be happy LOL. Most coins have little faults but it is if you yourself who are prepared to put up and enjoy the coin that matters. Collecting is a learning experience for everyone of whatever age , hopefully an enjoyable one

    Advice On Damaged Coin

yep the only thing you miss is not having that ticket pinned up in the kitchen board for 8 months and looking at it every day and wondering what the concert will be like

    Advice On Damaged Coin

I find it really strange how in 35 years a concert ticket for a band has gone up in cost from a hour or twos wages to a couple of days wages with outdoor concerts totally priceing themselves out of the market but selling out in a hour or two (100,000 or so tickets!) Personally i always use the touts now I turn up ten minutes b4 a gig and just offer the touts £15 for a £60 ticket . They never refuse it because the tickets in their pockets become worthless when the band comes on I never fail to get in

    Advice On Damaged Coin

I remember paying £1.50 for a ticket to see rush at the apollo manchester in 1978 2112 tour I walked out with my head blitzed thinking "what the hell was that" in a nice way though it was loud . the only concert i ever walked out on was sabath the same year , that was just too much very loud and my head was starting to spin sorry i also walked out on metalica in the early eighties as well but that was also because of something i tried at the time something thats illegal now if you know what i meen.

A bit of classic rush from the late seventies would be better than that noisey sabbath lot.

    Advice On Damaged Coin

AHHH i see , yes this sort of flaw does not often show up when a coin is scanned , you certainly have a case if it was not mentioned in the description .
  13. Threepence is right I have seen several practically unique coins sell for £300 -£400 because there is a limited interest in the market for them - put the same coin in the papers and give it a bit of publicity and it could fetch £5000 . That said the rags that are our newspapers are not known for their interest in numismatics , indeed they go out of their way not to publicise it. Unless you are involved in the london mint office

    Advice On Damaged Coin

ok sorry , but usually a picture should show the date on a coin its the most important feature the one that can make a coin worth scrap value or £100 do you think the dealer did not show the date on purpose? Bad or at least poor practice by the dealer

    Advice On Damaged Coin

If you dont notice the flaw when you bought it really it only becomes one persons fault , YOURS

yes blank in defective 95% certain
  17. Yes it was a guess TBH and I was expecting a reply like this - wasn't a bad guess BTW I think
  18. Looks like GVF that sov , you can of course get lustred GVF sovs due to the coin being 85% or therabouts pure gold Gold due not tarnish like other metals so retains lustre longer. A poor strike can also look like wear so really coins like this have to be seen in hand
  19. ok 100th aniversary and 200th are acceptable but i must agree 150 year since birth is a poor excuse for a coin issue There is nothing wrong with the potter designs though , in fact peter rabbits is very good
  20. I dont really mind the google animations as you dont pay for them and they are not permenent . The uk stuff (commems) is at least quality designs and not frivilous .

    Please identify #1

I used to have a few of these they are very common , not seen it with that "JETTON" reverse though. The above poster is right , its german , and a card counter not sure about the nuremberg though , it does not in my opinion have anything to do with lauer

EU referendum - in or out?

Watched a TV programe the other day and BOTH sides of the fence piled on the lies and untruths thick and fast during their campaigns . To be honest the best result would have been if no one turned up and voted . I guess it was just a choice between which side was telling the biggest porkies and the other and the public chose what they thought was the least bad choice
  23. I must admit I find this horrible. This country looks issueing collectors coins for every 50th 100th or 250 year anniversary event for every year from now on - It looks set to become the isle of man of europe
