Two sets of maundy coins for sale

yes I am interested in getting rid of the other coins, been thinking about eBay and looking at what things have been going for, thinking maybe starting a new thread or linking a new thread to the existing one I posted enquiring about identity etc so people can see them on there,if anyone is interested in any of the coins then please ask and let people know about them.
  2. Hi, I know I'm very new here,I have enjoyed very much getting information on all my coins here and i am very grateful for everyones help, but unfortunately I had to fork out nearly 300 pound for my cars mot, so i am now willing (but would prefer not to) to sell the two maundy sets that you can see in this thread here. http://www.predecimal.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6828 Make me a fair offer if you like, there are other coins in the thread let me know if you are interested in any although you may pick ones that i may be keeping. Thought i would give you guys first refusal as you have all been so helpful. Thanks Darren

Two sets of maundy coins for sale

I dont think all the others would reach the same kind of money? I would love to keep them, but im in a low end pay scale job and pretty broke. To be honest yes they are lovely coins but as long as i can make out what the coins are and find out some history about them i don't mind to much about the grading, my favorites out of the ones i have are the hammered ones just because of the history. I have sold the two sets to a local dealer. He also wanted the Elizabeth I sixpence but offered me £6 for it , I didn't think that was a fair price,he also offered me £30 for the Henry the viii groat but i want sure about that either,£5 for all the other silver exept a couple of groats in there didn't like the sound of that offer either. Any advice on what they should be let go for?

  6. Hello Predecimal community, I am hoping you can help identify any sought after coins and values of them. They were given to me probably 10 years ago and I have recently decided to find out more about them. Firstly I shall apologise for the odd non English coin in with them and hope the image host is acceptable. I scanned them all at once because I don't have a scanner myself, the image host has downgraded the quality but the originals are 300dpi I can upload them to a file host in their orignal state for download if necessary. I have had the older coins identified by the colchester museum but have had none of them valued. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Darren. I have added a picture with grouping and numbers so its easier to know what people are talking about. Here are the links to the 300dpi pictures if you need them: http://www.freefilehosting.net/file0300 http://www.freefilehosting.net/file0301
  7. Out of interest, the 53 halfcrown isn't one of the ones broken out of the plastic sets, it's an Obverse 2 made for circulation. Commoner on issue, but as more of the plastic sets got broken up, and as Obv 2s got more circulation, I'm sure that high grade examples have become scarcer than Obv 1s now. Thanks for the info, very helpful it is in quite good condition i think,i'm pretty sure i will be keeping that one.
  8. Thank you paulus and peckris for your replys.
  9. I'm not sure. Personally I wouldn't risk it. You could place them in acid-free envelopes or in special non-PVC coin flips. What were they in before the cling film? They were all bundled in together in the royal mint envelope, didn't want to leave them all together to rub against each other or wrap them in tissue as I've heard it scratches coins even though its soft to the human touch.
  10. I have wrapped the maundy sets individually in cling film at the moment just for protection this won't damage them will it? there's not some hidden chemical in cling film that will damage them
  11. Thanks for the reply, I have seen some maundy sets on ebay for nearly $200 but they are on rolling buy it now prices so i haven't taken much notice of them really, didn't know the florin was pure silver so that's nice. shame the hammered aren't in better condition but I can't imagine what they have seen what in your opinion would you think the maundy sets would be worth?
  12. If you need any other close ups of the other coins let me know and i shall try to do them as quick as i can. Thanks again everybody. Darren.
