We're looking to improve our coverage on the site and you guys (collectors) will be the most useful in doing this. Thanks, Joe -
Hi, I don't know if there are many Islamic collectors on these boards, but I thought I'd post anyway as I found this pretty interesting. The Horus Collection of Islamic Coins is coming up for auction at Baldwin's, starring a set of Umayyad reform coins that were issued without mint name or markings: The Horus Collection

Hi, Hopefully I get the link working this time... Australian square penny An Australian 1921 cupro-nickel pattern penny is coming up for auction at Spink. There's lots of strong coins in the auction and, as its a world sale, something for everyone. Read the preview then take a look for yourselves. Personally, I can't believe they didn't see and issue with a square coin before there were any examples struck. Nice coin though and an interesting collecting area. Joe

Oops! Thanks Coppers! -
Hi all, The auction record for an Australian Holey Dollar - the country's first coin - has sold in Melbourne, breaking the previous world record that was set in 2011: I really love this coin for its story and how amateur it looks. What a brilliant way to start off a nation's coinage!

Hi all, This coin is coming up for sale at Spinks today, thought you might want to read a little bit on the background. I wrote the article, so if you can tell me more about the coin and its value that would be great. I'll be writing the results up in the morning. http://www.paulfrasercollectibles.com/News/COINS-%26-BANKNOTES/Discovered-Richard-III-coin-to-sell-for-$24,000-in-UK-auction/12453.page?catid=76 Cheers, Joe -
Hi, Some outstanding results here from a remarkable collection of Judean coins. A Macrinus aureus sold as top lot, struck in high relief and originates from Syria. http://www.paulfrasercollectibles.com/News/Macrinus-aureus-coin-up-407.9pc-on-estimate-at-Shoshana-collection-auction/11763.page?catid=26 Pretty interesting. Hi guys, Sorry about that, was in a bit of a rush and posted the wrong link. As for the spelling mistake, I'm a writer, of course it was deliberate! It's due to the fact that we have a lot of American readers and they spell it differently. So I would thank you not to send silly emails to the newsdesk, or you may end up being laughed at. If you would like me not to post content to the forum, please say so and I won't. However, I thought it would be of interest as you are British coin collectors, saves you fishing around for news all day. Thanks. Joe -
