Things to know in Excell for cataloguing coins

There was a thread recently by Mongo on exactly this topic. Can somebody link to it as I'm on my way out. I'm not aware of such a topic; I can see no other threads in this forum for some reason (it's set to show all). In the thread index, there's a dark blue/green top and bottom line. On the bottom line is a tiny white 'Click here to show filter options' button. If you click that, you can set parameters for what is displayed. One of the defaults is 'From the last 30 days'. As this particular sub-forum doesn't get posted in very often, probably no-one has made a new topic in the last month, which is why you don't see any. I noticed that yesterday, so I chose for it to show all, and set that as my default. Still nothing. That's the first parameter - there's 5 in all. The 4th is "Time frame" and that needs to be set longer than 30 days (at least, in this forum - others get posted to just about every day). I meant, where it said show threads from the past 30 days, I changed that to the longest duration.

  5. Hi everyone. I am just starting a coin collection, and as such, I'm starting to catalogue what I have so far in Excell. Besides knowing how to type, is there anything I should know before starting to catalogue these coins?

    Just starting a collection

Thanks for the responses, everyone, I appreciate it. I'll definitely check out those books, and have a look on the internet for a local coin fair. Today I got a 1967 Three Pence piece in change, it must have seemed like a pound coin. That will be added to the list in the first post, which I will be using for reference when beginning to catalogue my coins

    Just starting a collection

Hey everyone. After finding a small tub of coins I bought a while ago, I've decided to start collecting coins again. My collection as it stands includes: 1946 Farthing 1954 Half Penny 1921 One Penny 1954 Three Pence 1955 One Shilling 1961 Two Shillings 1947 Half Crown 1965 Crown (Churchill Commemorative) I'd also like to start a collection of post-decimal coins. I have yet to start that one. Could somebody suggest the best way to proceed with these two collections, keeping in mind there are no coin shops in my town (that I am aware of) Thanks in advance.
