Windows Photo Gallery no longer supported

I get irritated every time I have to learn how to use a new app when the one I am used to became unavailable following an upgrade. I think I can edit photos faster with the old Windows Photo Gallery. This is a consideration when I have several hundreds to do after a holiday. But I have got used to Windows Photos now and it does have some advantages. E.g., you can rotate an image by any angle and you can only "straighten" up your photo previously. I have used Paint but found that it's cloning function is not easy to use when cloning a larger area.

I think it is nice that there is very rarely any need for a moderator to intervene these days. Looking back, the worse instances of "emotional outbursts" occurred when people discussed the merits (or lack of) of slabbing companies. The demise of CGS has really calmed people down on both sides. Politics used to get some people hot under the collar. However, even the Brexit process is not causing anyone to post savage insults on politicians.

Noted the shiny copper at the edge of the hole on the obverse side. And he wasn't being totally honest as he is making the claim that it is a 1914 bullet tip. How could he date the bullet to a specific year, particularly as he is "know" ww1 expert?

    1847 gothic crowns

Dealers or auctions are the normal way to get one / them. Shouldn't need to advertise really.
  6. " What price would the EU exact for this about turn?" I am certain the EU will say they will take us back with open arms and they won't want anything in doing so. They might even offer a welcome back gift. Bit like the prodigal son story. But what would actually happen unofficially afterwards is another matter... This Brexit process has annoyed many of the EU countries after all.

"I know absolutely nothing about them". "I'm no coin expert ". "Now I wasn't clued up on coins". "Now im no expert" When will some people learn that con men always say something like that?
  8. My feeling is that even if there is a no confidence vote, May would probably be able to win and cling on until December. Can't really see how the deal can get through parliament in December though. If the deal fails to get through parliament, then ...
  9. It was many years ago when I watched that Antiques Roadshow episode but it left a strong impression. With regard to the photos I posted, the watch has the inscription 'Pte Hodgson' alongside the military number 2055250. It is further engraved with 'Farnboro [sic] Hants.' Military records reveal Pte Hodgson was a woman who served in the auxiliary core of the RAF which was responsible for delivering newly built planes to military bases across Britain in 1941. "Military "experts" have identified the bullet which caused the dent as a 30mm calibre round - ammunition used in the MK108 auto-cannon which was mounted on German aircraft fighter planes." It was found in a donation to a charity shop and no one is suggesting that it has any intrinsic value. OK the story was reported in tabloids and so ...... Even if the dent on this item wasn't actually caused by a bullet, there must be items with better provenances available.
  10. It really is a nice story and particularly apt as it was Remembrance Sunday a couple of days ago. I remember watching an Antiques Roadshow episode featuring a pocket watch which stopped a bullet during the war. This watch is believed to have save a female RAF pilot.

    LCA December

I imagine the fakers might want to get rid of the "evidence" once the deed is done. Selling the original asap is quite sensible just in case someone might think it is a fake later on?

  15. I have indeed wondered how coins were kept in the past. Surely, the majority weren't kept in cabinets (or there will be many more antique ones available today)? Yet we still have a reasonable quantity of coins well preserved and in the top grade. I now use quadrums. Prior to that I used 2 x 2s. Tried slabbing with cgs before that. Have tried and rejected coin capsules first. Don't have a large enough collection to justify using a cabinet. I would be at a lost with regard to coin storage if plastic has never been invented.
  16. Whats comes to mind is the term "cabinet toning". Probably no wood is totally inert and the felts probably do trap substances over time. Don't get me wrong, I love toned coins and think that it is probably a good thing if cabinets do help coins tone just a little faster.
  17. I suppose coins in plastic have less things to react with than coins in a cabinet such as the chemicals in the cloth, free flowing air, potential emissions from wood etc. Cabinets are handmade furniture and I guess each one is somewhat unique.
  18. Just been to the PCGS website to have a look and I agree that strike is indeed superb and proof. If you have the PCGS certification number handy, then I can try to get a bigger photo.

Someone fell for it and the item was sold for £30. Then it looks like the seller has developed a conscience and cancelled the sale. His reward? A negative feedback with the comment "BUYER BEWARE*!Seller likes to cancel fair won bids! A Very Negative Experience**"

    Pennies High grade.

Hmm, there is quite a big difference between cgs 2 and 3. cgs 3 need to show quite a few letters in the legend like the one below. Might be yours is a 2+ or a 2 with a CAC or Semra approved sticker? 😃
