1699 Halfpenny error?
rooneydog replied to speedbird's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Dr Nicholson had 1 as well, No 128 on part 2 of the collection. -
I did mention to the young lad at the auction, when I was viewing, that he should be careful of his spelling - it took about 3 minutes for the penny to drop. My mobile sits in my glovebox just in case I break down, it makes phone calls cost £6 from Tesco and came with £10 credit about 6 years ago, it still has £3.59 left.

Be gentle Please can someone explain why this obverse looks so "bulky" in comparison to other short cross pennies I can view on line (ie is it real ) ? Thanks
-
Thank you for the opinion and explanation Tom.
-
Thanks both - by bulky I mean the eye looks huge, the sceptre looks large and there appears very little space in the background, hopefully I am making sense.

If you click where it says image it brings up a separate tab with the image - as Dave says above. Edit beat me to it -
2 years of looking (detecting) and £600 later this coin is expensive so please can someone ID - I am quite useless at hammered with not much legend. Even with a legend I struggle Weight is 0.99g diameter (what is left) about 17mm. Thanks
-
Thanks Richard - hope I find a lot more though Yes - not to far from here, I have another 300 acres to search thanks to walking RooneyDog in out of the way places - you Suffolkers tend to talk to people with dogs but no one else

1849 Florin - Orientation
rooneydog replied to Nonmortuus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Always lurking but not saying much, trying to learn from those who know far more than me. I did subscribe though to the Peter grading system a couple of years ago but do not stoop to the depths of coin insults as some on here do. (where's that cauldron and spoon gif ) -

Nice riposte - glad you are not offended by Mr Perfect -
It is a "Love" token though

Just another thought - have you deleted your browsing history because it may be looking for a cached page which has expired - forgive me if this is to basic but a lot of people who look at items I upload have this problem.

Try downloading Google Chrome as your browser, I have had various problems with various sites and Chrome seems to work everywhere. Only a thought.

rooneydog replied to rooneydog's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries

Is this listed anywhere ? is it over 54 or possibly something else ? Pics from different angles. Thanks

Not my area, came with a batch of coins / medals / tokens some of which had been brassoed (if that's a word). Firstly is my attribution correct. Weight 5.42 gm. Diameter 30mm max. Secondly is it possible to remove the copper polished in or even worth the effort. Thirdly what is happening with the reverse. Thanks for looking.
-
Thanks. Must of read my mind on the easiest way to differentiate, nothing lost as it's not why I bought the lot Is the reverse double struck in such a way that one strike is on the right and one on the left ? apologies for my ignorance.

Love the under bidder 97% bids with the seller out of 576 bids in the last month
