  1. Reverse G is 1861 to 1873 - I think there's a small rock but I guess it's the "no rocks" reverse?

    The rarest coin you own?

Okay I finally got around to doing it and it looks like the 7 at denticle is a normal 1887 sixpence, besides the date difference. It has 119 rim denticles like Davies 1160 and the leaves and berries all appear the same to me.
  3. The 1837 mule sixpence is one that's missing from Davies, but the coverage in Davies is generally better.

    Predecimal halfpenny trial?

2009 Mule 10 Pence With Lion Reverse of 2007

Yes coin collecting has seen a rise in my opinion but for the decimal stuff more so.

2009 Mule 10 Pence With Lion Reverse of 2007

I'm surprised it wasn't at the time (or maybe it was - I can't remember when I started subscribing).
  7. Hm, working now. The noses do look a bit different for sure.
  8. Are those links not loading for anyone else at the moment?
  9. Interesting, I remember seeing a 1966 Australian specimen set offered for sale and it was reportedly from the Pretoria Mint collection - no other details though.

    The rarest coin you own?

Ah yes, just the one obverse for the wreath sixpence in 1887 which I guess will be I of BRITT to gap.

    Halfpenny ID check

Not sure - maybe the Royal Mint annual reports (now on their website and searchable) give some figures?

    Storage of proof coins

I don't have many proofs but I think I have most of them in flips. I haven't checked them lately though.

Surely if it was an intentional fabrication there would be more out there and someone would be cashing.

    The rarest coin you own?

Ah thanks - and which obverse is it?
  15. What year was that? The Royal Australian Mint sold off a bunch of its collection (1987 or so onwards) including some rare patterns. Bit of a shame I thought, even if it was good that a few things saw the light of day.

    "onc" tenth florins

Trick of the light but the c and e look different - like the top bar is shorter on the c.
  17. Freeman is the only place I know of for bronze farthings.

    The rarest coin you own?

Do you have pictures of the coin in its entirety?

2009 Mule 10 Pence With Lion Reverse of 2007

No, this is the first I've heard of this and while I don't collect decimals myself, I do keep an eye on this forum.
  20. Freeman 5 is Peck 4 for farthings (and Freeman 6 is Peck 5 - the three berries obverse).
  21. Yeah no mix-ups on the 1925 by the looks of it.
  22. Ah yes: https://www.noble.com.au/auctions/lot?id=450605 Thank you.
  23. What are the Groom numbers for the reverses? I have 157 and 163 denticles for the obverses but I think the different reverses have the same number of denticles.
  24. Many thanks. Unhelpfully listed under the sixpences of 1880!
  25. That's quite nice - good call out to their heritage.
