  1. I found this one, part of a "Best of Sea Life" album, and the title seemed appropriate. Music is good too - light rock:

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Have you seen his line in GVI shillings starting at $40 upwards? I wish I could get anything like that for them! His feedback indicates that most of his higher value coins go with "Best offer accepted" - one can only hope the offers were a hell of a lot lower than his headline price!
  3. Another one from the same source as Brenda's Beaver:
  4. Thanks for the promotion! Usually I would be keen to get involved as I normally visit Dorset regularly to see my father, but in the present situation I cannot. I am also a little reticent to get in much bulk low grade stuff until we see how the market goes once restrictions are lifted. I suspect I will be inundated with people shifting their low grade collections in order to release much needed funds, and there will also be fewer people adding to their collections for a while. (High grade stuff always finds a home, but low grade needs the enthusiastic amateur with money to spend...) I suspect @Weaver would do better selling at a local auction where there is a good chance of getting direct to a new collector - Elliotts in Wimborne or Cottees in Poole would be my choices. I won't say anything directly about selling to the Ingrams, because I have had no direct dealings with them, as long as @Weaver has taken time to read the previous discussions on the subject of that particular dealership.
  5. These jokes remind me of that ancient torture: "Rolling a gong on the chest of a slave".
  6. I saw this on the BBC today and wanted to share it somewhere, so why not here as so many people are into photography as well as coins! New book out celebrating Jacques Henri Lartigue - a photographer in the early 20thC from an early age. Some lovely shots... https://www.bbc.com/news/in-pictures-52373308
  7. The other two I would say were two halves of a shirt stud, but possibly didn't start together. The silver coloured screw thread I have definitely had before on shirt studs. The diamond shaped thing is too small for a cufflink. I would expect the two halves to match in colour, which is why I think a marriage.
  8. In the British Army two Corps have the motto "Ubique" The Royal Artillery and the Royal Engineers. For the Engineers it means "Everywhere" in recognition of the fact that they have been involved in every conflict since time immemorial. For the Artillery, however, it means "All over the place"...

Anyone else here use this forum as well? Have you found it unavailable now? It seemed to go down yesterday afternoon/evening with messages of "Taking too long to respond". This morning it is "IP address could not be found". I use www.coincommunity.com

Thanks for that - I don't do facebook so useful information.

Yes - that is what I am still getting. IP address not found means it has disappeared completely, at least for now. Hopefully it will return - it is no competition with this forum for GB predecimal coinage, but quite useful for other world coins. Ditto Cointalk, which is the other forum I haunt regularly.

Not known it to go on for so long before. Usually OK the next day.

I agree. Putting grades on Ebay leads to lots of issues - If you grade accurately then you risk no one looking at your items as they are lost in the swill of over-graded rubbish. If you join the over-grading cult you lose credibility with the knowledgeable buyers, or enter into disputes with them. It's a no win!
  14. I used to bid regularly at Lawrences of Crewkerne with complete confidence. They recorded the bidding in the room, even before everything went online, and so any queries could easily be handled by playing back the recording. There were other auctions here in the South West that I quickly gave up leaving bids with as they had a reputation for "taking bids off the wall".
  15. Well I have just "wasted" a whole afternoon listening and watching that Pulse video. Thanks @bagerap !
  16. ... and so they are stopping his pension...
  17. He speaks English but I understand little...
  18. I'm not half as drinkled as some thinkle peep I are!
  19. This one arrived in an email today - first belly laugh I've had in ages!
  20. Well that clears it up - I was still working out what sort of plant a Burberry was and whether I could make wine from the fruit!
