Sorry if this is already explained somewhere on the forum and if so, please point me in the right direction. As a newbie and posting novice, can I get some guidance on uploading pictures? I've already successfully posted a couple of pics with the upload system under the topic box which produces a thumbnail to expand on. But I see many threads posted with excellent and much larger pictures embedded - so how does one do this? Thanks, Chris

I can imagine Semras response they were returned for a refund due to misleading images! Some chance?

I got this 1926ME in the March auction. Compare the enhanced LCA images with mine taken in natural daylight. I find it disappointing that my photos are a much better representation of what it's really like in hand. Another reason to turn up on the day and not bid on web illustrations I suppose.

And my 1920 for comparison with other previously illustrated.

Azda is right.....they are just not good enough.....they can't take the pressure of expectancy......and until the Prem cuts back on foreign imports nothing will change. We can't have both - exciting, multi-cultural Premiership teams as well as a good England team. Poor old Gerrard. It's really difficult buying from Ebay photos. I've been looking for a bargain 1906 penny and just had to ask to return one purchased on Ebay because to me it had been polished.......even though the vendor reckons he bought it from Colin Cook as BU. I find a lot of sellers in the US won't "ship" overseas.......and as you say, it seems daft not offering a coin to buyers in that country when it's there it's likely to acheive the highest price. It's the same trip to the post office but just with a bit more effort labeling I suppose. Must be too difficult for them. Another thing which gets me annoyed about US sellers......their descriptions. Maybe Bob could explain it? For example with pennies.....what's the obsession with "Britannia seated right" (you don't say!). And often, repeating the whole obverse legend like it's something to impress a prospective buyer, like "Georgivs V Dei Gra Britt Omn Rex Fid Def IND IMP : ONE PENNY Great Shape". Round, maybe?! That's what made me suspicious Matt.....the swarf over the rim edge. Aren't the beads a bit flat though on the obverse - what's that about?

There's just something about pennies - they have so much character. When I was a kid in the 60's I went through my mothers purse every night when she came home from work to look for dates to complete my run.........with her permission of course! Then later when I discovered the opposite sex and had to sell everything I had to raise a deposit for a mortgage.....inclcuding my penny collection - which actually although date complete from 1895 wasn't that good grade-wise. It's taken until many years later to get enough disposable income to get back into it again. But at least I can afford to buy better grades now

You have to be really careful with (often so called) errors like this as they are so easily manufactured to deceive post mint. As Matt says, if the beads and/or lettering fade towards the cut edge it's a good sign of a genuine error. But I've seen straight clips like Jims that have vertical striations down the clipped edge which is a dead giveaway for a grinder causing the "error". I had two straight cut halfpennies once which when carefully examined still had remains of swarf on the edge.

What's the point of these? You'd think if someone was going to the trouble of making dies to manufacture these things, the least they could do would be make them realistic. I once called and asked her to bring a 2K coin to view at Wakefield.......when I got there she'd forgotten about it - no apology, didn't care, wasn't bothered. I was dismissed by being ignored as she then started talking to another poor sod of a potential customer.

You now might appreciate why I refer to her as Semra Cretin ....... she's just a horrible person to deal with, treating customers with so much disrespect. Not that my name for her is respectful of course - but they say respect is earned.

Patience isn't one of my better atributes.....my problem is keeping track of which auctions are coming up. A diary page on the forum would be really useful.

The £3250 example has been on offer for about 2 years to my knowledge but it was on there at £3K when I first saw it. A year ago I sent an offer to Ms Cretin of £2.5K which was refused and they immediately increased it to £3250 !!
