  1. Hi all, just bought an okay 1897 crown for my collection. It's slightly larger than my other crowns!! As in it doesn't for snug into the lighthouse capsule but becomes wedged. I'd say a mm or 2 max, the only thing I can notice is on the edge of the coin the 'join' mark looks almost like an 'I' as its larger than on other crowns...should I be concerned?

Aha, so not a fake, simply shoddy work! I guess this is going to mean I overpaid perhaps? Paid £35 for it >.<

The link does work, you can see the edge join is far thicker than normal, apart from that I think it's ok, but any opinions would be great

    Advice On A New Coin

I mean as one of the join marks on the edge is quite wider compared to other coins.
  6. Any help would be great, and also was it an ok deal for £13?
  7. Recently bought this crown, one of my favourites, what would you grade this at? I was thinking mayve Fine to Very Fine? ALso did I pay too much? Thanks! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GEORGE-III-SILVER-CROWN-COIN-DATED-1821-SECUNDO-/370804458333?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=Amvy0IS812cJT3KC5UUZcvu%252Bz68%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  8. Any tips on how to get rid of verdigris? Also does the crown look fine to you, as in not showing any signs of cleaning etc? (I worry too much) thanks for all the advice people
  9. Haha just noticed the mistake, thanks Also I bought a Cartwheel Twopence from the same seller...what do you think this would be graded at? VF or a bit better. Say gVF where the g stands for green. There's quite a lot of verdigris which you could do without. Thanks Got that one for £48, which I think was quite good, decent edges also. Would you go for F - VF for the crown also?
  10. Haha just noticed the mistake, thanks Also I bought a Cartwheel Twopence from the same seller...what do you think this would be graded at?
  11. You only pay to much when a coin is shill bidded upon. Normally by those who make their listings private. Grade, i'd say VF or there abiuts What's shill bidding? Ahh VF would be about the rightish price then, cheers mate
  12. I personally love the 1797 twopence, and I think I got a lovely example on eBay. I'd like your opinions. eBay item number: 290892253787 Won't let me post a pic on my iPhone Thanks

Did I get a good deal?

Not without a link, thank you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-QUALITY-GEORGE-III-CARTWHEEL-1797-TWOPENCE-2d-HUGE-2-oz-COIN-/290892253787?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=Amvy0IS812cJT3KC5UUZcvu%252Bz68%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Was it you who won it? It's a nice mid-grade example - some wear, not too much, good rim. Worth the price it went for, I'd say. Only blemish is that 9 but that's not really bad. Yes I won it! Cheers I've always wanted a nice example, one of my favorite coins!
  14. I'm searching for a capsule for this monster, I can't seem to find anything that can accommodate its girth. Any suggestions? There is one one eBay but with postage it's £14, which I'm thinking is a bit too much. What do you guys think of the coin: eBay item number: 290892253787
  15. Haha I had a word with the seller on ebay, and he is now selling just the capsule, so you do not have to buy the case also. I think £5.99 including postage is pretty reasonable. Link for info: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221214740976?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
