The cap on the final value fee (the 10% cut you give eBay of the final sale price, including p&p) will rise from £75 to £250. So anyone selling an item worth more than £750 will pay a lot moIncrementally upto 250 Pounds. I think you just hate Ebay And how much do you think a £750 sale will actually cost you? Bear in mind it WAS £75 then ask yourself how much more expensive that same £750 item is now going to cost to the seller, he's obviously going to increase his price to incorporate the new fees. A £750 sale is still £75 fee. Above 750 and you start paying the extra. The rise between £75 up to £250 is incremental, its not automatically £250 for a £750 sale, to pay the 250 you would have to sell an item for £2500. Anyway nobody forces anyone to use it, I like Ebay despite its many shortcomings, it allows me to sell my wares to a world market for around 12% including PAYPAL fees. I of course like everyone would like to pay them less but its not to be.

A 1000 Pound item will now command a fee of 100 pounds as opposed to the previous 75 Pounds.

I think you are mistaken, the cap is rising not the percentage of the final value fee. I stand to be corrected but that is my understanding.

Where does it make mention of a 25% final value fee?

I have never had any problem with Ebay (over 1000 sales). Actually i do well out of it and it entirely funds my coin buying. I don't sell coins though. I think too many people want to buy at auction, pay the commission of 20% then lose around 12% when they resell on Ebay, Then complain they cant make a buck !! If Ebay did not make me money i wouldn't use it, simple. No point carrying on and bagging it.

Want a picture of a 1805 Gilt Penny in near FDC? -
Just place a bid for what you think is a fair price, you may well get it. Just don't get caught in a bidding war.

1820 Geo Iii Proof Sovereign At Baldwins.
MRD posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I was just having a look at some books on their site when i noticed the very nice but not £32.000 nice proof sov. How do they justify that 18 months or so ago you could have bought exact same coin for half the price at the Bentley sale, Was it a bargain at the Auction? or is it massively overpriced now. Certainly a massive margin. Your thought please. Cheers -
I was speaking to Jim Noble on Saturday and he told me he has had some problems and major surgery on his eye recently, hence the lack of usual review of the previous auction highlights etc.

1806 Pennies - Proofs V Currency
MRD replied to Accumulator's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi Guys, I have seen this coin in the hand, the small mark on the rim between R and E of REX is actually a ding that does not show as such in the picture. And the scuffs in front of the kings face are more pronounced in the hand. Thank you! I'll give this one a miss I think. It's certain not a bargain which is why it probably didn't sell in the auction. Another R56 will no doubt appear one day. It has actually been in the last 2 auctions and remained unsold. Cheers.. -

Not likely, I was at the auction on Wed and i can say at times i was perplexed, the table was certainly buying some of its own or the vendors coins back at the estimate shown in the catalogue.

There were some lovely coins in the auction, i spent 4 hrs on Saturday viewing the lots, which was nice. I got my 4 so i'm delighted.

Very Suspect Grading By Pcgs
MRD replied to Accumulator's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Am I the only one to think that that is ridiculous? What is the argument that it should be other than 50-50? Absolutely ludicrous. I've never considered one face of a coin to be more significant or important than the other. I think this must be some kind of urban myth. Im with you guys i think 50 50, I have been told about the 80 -20 by a dealer in Australia who only sells PCGS graded coins. And i tend to believe him, i have gold coins with a brilliant reverse and a slightly weak strike on the obverse come back as AU 55, that quickly ended my very brief experience with TPGs. -

Im led to believe the reverse of a coin only makes up 20% of the TPG grading score. -
Good looking thing for 20gbp, might have to get one of you fellows to mail one to Australia

And what about the potage rate only 49.99!!!!

Oops!! Something went wrong. What i meant to say was, You never know if the powers that be at Ebay are watching

Extreme shill bidding in my opinion, I watch this bloke as he does list some nice coins but bidder 3***a give it a break, its a little obvious when you do the same on all the listings. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1899-P-QUEEN-VICTORIA-PERTH-MINT-GOLD-SOVEREIGN-COIN-PCGS-MS62-/161082361139?nma=true&si=p%252Fs%252FfvzRO28wjBPgUjwk83fsMfY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
