I wouldn't even use that one as a washer for a bodge job

Its nothing special, still looking for that elusive gold/silver jackpot that I can retire on. There are mostly 1p's but there is a 1 euro, 10p, 5p, and a few unidentifiable one. So Time to put on ebay as RARE undersea treasure £50 each

It's amazing what you find if you root around

I Definately Must Have One Of These
Asumel replied to azda's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Got one Azda, your about 6 months behind on the trend Good, so perhaps you could elucidate. I can see how you will get enough friction to hold it on the front, but how is it anchored at the back? Clenched between the cheeks, or tied down by a tent peg stuck up your a**e? I go for the tent peg, it seems to be the favourite of people who wear it -
Got given this today, along with a few shillings, its intrigued me not sure what it is and what it was for? any ideas guys?

I'm going to have to agree with the everyone. I liked the contrast on the 1819 but i will have to go with the 1818 in the end.

Baden powell- medal

Might it be a previous sale? http://www.laidlawauctioneers.co.uk/about_us.html I did have a brief look before work this morning but couldn't find anything I'm just trawling back through this evening. I'm hoping I can piece together a good piece of history for it as it really intrigued me when i saw it -

Baden powell- medal

Its defiantly not a token with the loop that is supposed to have, it suggests it might be a small medal or pendant of some sort but even with the reference numbers from the previous links i still haven't found anything on it. All part of the fun -

It's 13mm in diameter, my scales are broken so not sure on the weight but it think its silver. -
At least the guy was willing to acknowledge that it was a fake.

I have brought up a copper ingot or two from random wrecks, I think I will melt it down and create a 2014 old style penny and start selling them for £30

Quite - ancient history to my son & his kids Such a shame, i mean I'm 22 and just remember talking to my great granddad about the great war and talking to all my grandparents about the second world war. I just hope the importance and respect isn't lost That was an interesting point, but not enough to reel me in

I have two 1967 pennies, both I would grade at AUNC and am not sure which to inclued into my collection. To be honest both will stay with me but I would like your opinions. the first had black marks on our dear queen, but a good britania and less luster

Cashing in whilst there are still folk around with a living memory of the event Its quite a sad thought really. I think I might be a member of the last generation to have direct links to anyone from the 1st and 2nd world wars. Much like this, the Gairsoppa gimmick. I did see that and thought the same, they will be doing the Lusitania, HMS scylla and that small wooden boat under the waterfront in Plymouth next....

Ah I see, that was my misunderstanding there -
Not Exactly Ebay, but still relevant I think. http://www.royalmint.com/shop/70th_Anniversary_of_D_Day_2014_Alderney_5_pound_Silver_Proof_Coin?promocode=E1513A&__ja=tsid:38667%7Ckw:E1513A&utm_campaign=70th_Anniversary_of_D_Day&utm_medium=email&utm_source=HouseList Do they really need 70 year commemoration, I could understand ( but maybe not like) 75 years and could see 100 years but 70 is rather unnecessary .

Really? I know there is wear on them but I didn't think there was enough to call them scrap coins? If pulled from change in the 1960s, they would all be roughly in that condition, and would have been described then as "average circulated". Sorry. Ah well, they were a gift and fill the gaps in a very small collection. I was quite excited about them, a little less now :/ Awww. Well, if it's any consolation at all, we've all been there. All of us. No exceptions. I remember when I got my first UNC George V coin, I was so so pleased with it (still am, still got it ). So I make the toast to you that all coin collectors are happy to hear : a long life and happy collecting. Thanks, I have regained my excitement for them as I have been adding them to the collection, they are, as many have said on here " the best examples you can afford" (being free and me being poor currently). I look forward to upgrading them when I get the chance to. I do have to pose a question, I could be wrong with this but surely even low grade coins such as these shouldn't be considered scrap? Surely, like with me they are of value to people are starting off and received them from friends and relatives to start their collection, as incentives for the hobby and upgrading eventually? -
That is very kind of you but I wouldn't want to put you out of pocket Chris.

At the moment that is not really an option, I wont be getting any more coins for a while. Hence the question. I'm leaning towards the 2nd one for now
