1902 Low Tide Penny anomaly?
Garrett replied to bhx7's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Nice penny. As for the rest, I'll leave you to it. -
So commonly used here I was wondering what Pete and Nordie were on about !! ha haha
-
I am shocked and saddened by that news Peter. Condolences to you and your family.

Anyone plan on bidding?
Garrett replied to Coppers's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
It is very beautiful but not something I covet. My ancestors would most probably not have owned, touched, seen, or even heard of this coin. For a couple hundred grand I could have a decent Henry VIII testoon, Liz 1 crown, Gothic crown, gold Angel, a Noble, Willy IV crown, etc etc etc etc But best wishes if it strokes your fancy cheers Garrett. -
It's interesting to me to think that so many coins have been converted to jewellery in the past. I can't recall ever seeing anyone wearing a coin.
-
As a coin collector I would be disappointed. However, if after researching the family tree and trawling through old photos I found a 120 year old photo of my GG Grandmother wearing it I would feel a bit better. Cheers Garrett.

Congratulations on your achievement !

Yeah wow what a performance from England and Broady in particular !! I don't have much to say except hopefully Root can go on and make a big score and stop us losing within two days...... Would be nice to have a five day test which hasn't happened in this series. I do enjoy the tests in England. It comes on here at 7.30pm and I love to leave the radio on all night. cheers

I saw a government advert on TV the other day saying 67% of Australians (might have been Queenslanders) are overweight, so it's probably a bit cultural .....
-
Well put it this way, my radio is now broken too !

Good to read things are going well ! Maybe you should buy Mrs Peter a nice farthing to celebrate ?

Advice on this 1935 raised edge crown
Garrett replied to evansuk2000's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Shame, looks like a nice coin..... -
Yes nice, must be worth more than a high tide cut out.

After advice...what does this description mean?
Garrett replied to evansuk2000's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi Evan I think the line 'the portrait frosted' just means an attribute of the coin like 'R under the date'. I have a 1689 halffcrown coin with part of it 'frosted'. There are wiser heads on this forum then me though, so you may get more informed answers soon, soon as they get out of bed Looks like a nice coin to me ! Doesn't look cleaned, auction shops will usually spell it out clear if a coin has been cleaned. I have one of these, a nice coin, albeit in a slightly lower grade. cheers Garrett. -
A nice coin and a nice memory of your father. How old would your father have been ? Might he have taken this from circulation or more likely that it was handed down to him ? (maybe he was a collector) Would have been a fair bit of money in the day. My Gran put aside a 1937 crown (Oz), which was a fair bit of money too.... cheers and welcome Garrett.

It's a nice coin and a beautiful piece of history ! I am pretty sure it's genuine too. Weights vary with the hammered coins (especially). Welcome to the forum ! It's a pretty friendly place here, not too many R.Soles here at all ! cheers Garrett.
