Interesting article ! So the shiny 1787 examples we have in our possession today could have been released from bank vaults sometime after 1798.

Brisbane Anda/apta Coin Banknote And Stamp Show.
Garrett replied to Garrett's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Thanks guys, not doing much Sunday so will have a look. Perhaps the prize draws are there to keep people a little longer. They are drawn every hour. If you're ready to head off and it's only 20 minutes to the next draw you might as well have another look at that table over there..... Think I'll pass on the mint-marked dollar. I only found out about the 2000 dollar mule the other day though, keeping an eye out for that from now on !!! -

Nice coin John. What does 'PGC' mean ? -
That 1906 penny just looks wrong. Like a 50yr old who's had plastic surgery to look like a 30 yr old.

Nice tokens Brandon, I like the second one. They give an insight into another time. -
I could suggest a coin grading book and the CCGB book Peter mentioned. That way you can grade the coin then value them. (Of course there may be some varieties that are not in the book ! ) I have them both on my iPhone purchased from this site for a few dollars/pounds each. Good luck and welcome to the site !

Well done, I do like the early George V half crowns !! -
aaahhh - i've just woken up. A Euro-Ace is a metal detector. I did wonder how Vicky knew it was Justin who cleaned it. Okay, carry on.

The bullion price Paulus has quoted leads me to believe he has mistaken it for the full Sov

I have a few pennies. Favourites are George IV through 1859, with probably the Viccy young head most favourite. Least favourite is the cartwheel. Cheers Garrett -
Nice coins mate, shame you need to sell them. Hope you get good prices !

1888 Crown, Opinions?
Garrett replied to atscaper's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
it might be a double-florin. Not a bad coin ! -
Very interesting AC. I'm sorry I cannot add much to the discussion but my 1807 looks very much like the one you have posted, but it is only VF. My 1806 (a proof) is a lot like that too, except the blob at the bow of your ship looks bigger. Good luck with your research ! cheers Garrett.
