1992 £1 error with Flax reverse

I'll post pics in the next few days - are there any giveaway signs ?
  2. Bought an unusual penny on Ebay recently which had a re-entered G in D:G:, rotated noticeably.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

    I find that quite disturbing.
  4. Today, from nowhere, my browsers have virtually slowed to a halt. When typing from the keyboard, each character takes at least a second to appear on the screen. There is not a problem typing into a Word document. Similarly, it takes several seconds to open a new tab in either Chrome or Edge. The scroll wheel on the mouse is similarly delayed in action which makes the sizing of images on a web page impossible. A broadband check shows that speed is unaffected. The PC has become unusable. Any advice out there ?

My Browsers have ground to a halt

It may well be related in some way. These automatic software updates often cause problems that the writers presumably haven't anticipated (or tested).

My Browsers have ground to a halt

Strangely, the problem returned today. For some reason. I then logged into my Google account and the problem was instantly cured. And I don't understand why.
  7. Remember my saga of the 1862/1 penny - there's a good chance that it will turn up eventually. And you may eventually end up like you-know-who with both the coin and the compensation.
  8. I wonder if and when they'll clarify that on their website.
  9. No, they're pretty economical with their communications.
  10. They have confirmed that there will be no room bidding, just commission or phone bidding. I wonder if the guy who's selling his collection knew this ? I'll bet he didn't !
  11. Catalogue just arrived - no mention of venue !!!!!! And still no reply to my question of where the auction will be. Maybe they're still negotiating on a venue ?
  12. Bracknell was fine for me, about 45 minutes drive but this auction is at their Kent office and they still haven't told me whether the public can attend or not. Presumably not as I can't imagine that they have the space. And, anyway, that's too far away for me.

Not really - subjective descriptions without photographic evidence (such as Michael Gouby's) are fairly meaningless, in my view.

I'm inclined to take this with a pinch of salt. I'm not totally convinced that there's a deliberate design difference between obverse 11 and 12 let alone an additional obverse 11*. A high resolution photograph of a high grade example is essential before we accept this.

    More Pennies

    Crucial estimate missing (£80-$100) !!!
  16. They have replied that it's in Kent. But now I can't access their website - is anyone else having problems ?
  17. Thanks Mike - I emailed them to ask, earlier today but got no response.
  18. Does anyone know where this auction will take place ? There's no mention of location.

My apologies - you're quite right. I need to keep out of this as this is not my area of expertise.

Dracott describes the article as an update to his 2004 article but it's inconsistent to arbitrarily replace #suffixes with 1. He also describes 1873 7+C1 as a new die pairing with 3 known. I assume that this is the same as the previous 7+C# which was unique at the time of his 2004 article but, in theory could be an additional die pairing if C1 is "new" and different from C#. The new article deserves expansion together with photos to illustrate the new varieties.

Let me know if you can't and I'll send a scan. I don't like to criticise but the penny section contains numerous narrative descriptions that really need photographic examples and there are a few errors, such as 1861 pennies with the "2" in various positions !!!
