  1. And is invariably present on all obverse D* coins.
  2. Take a look at the F28s on my rarestpenny site - most of them have the dropped last 1 in the date like your picture.
  3. Yes, it's on most of my obverse 6s.
  4. A bit tenuous in my view......................
  5. This one's the dead give-away. Even on the most worn specimen if 1860 or 1861. Look at the big pictures on my varieties website. Easier than looking at Freeman/Gouby books.
  6. It's very worn but I think it may be Victoria...........
  7. I don't know - I bet Rob will know.
  8. When they featured this in the preview I emailed them and suggested they describe it as F762 which it is and, although they thanked me for my email, they ignored me ! But it's rare one and whereas Michael Gouby originally suggested it might be a "late strike for VIPs", presumably because of the inverted reverse, the article by Paul Holland in the 2017 BNJ suggests it was an early strike and from a working die rather than a proof die. Still very rare though.
  9. C'est la vie - it was always a possibility even though a little disappointing.
  10. I'm glad you're pleased with it Mike. Always nice to see a collector add to his/her collection rather than someone buying just to make some easy money !
  11. Pete, is there any way that you can get me the photos to add to my website ?
  12. Is a metal detector included ?
  13. An impressive and useful piece of work Mr hawk.
  14. Very wide 4 on that one.
  15. An interesting (not) dot between 1 and 8 !
  16. Young man, you really must get out more.............................
  17. why oh why did Freeman have to record F147 ??????????????????
  18. Thanks Mike - that was a hell of a bargain.
  19. Definitely - yes please. If collectors have further examples of any of the rare pennies shown, I'd appreciate details to further improve evidence of rarity.
  20. Mike Have I got that one on my rarest website ? R
  21. Thanks Declan, and Pete has just mailed me a copy so Happy Days.
  22. Great work Declan. Would you mind if I use your stats on 1913 pennies for my penny varieties site ?
  23. Don't recall seeing one but a die break shouldn't be enough to make it a particular variety (IMO)
  24. I do something very similar - I take high quality pics with a digital SLR and macro lens, store them on my PC and on ONEdrive (cloud) whilst keeping a duplicate set of pics reduced in size by 60% using Photostudio (from 2 or 3 megabytes to <500 Kb) on both for uploading to here or websites.
  25. Looks like a standard currency issue to me but I'm not an expert. When I took a holiday job in 1965 as a lorry driver's mate, we used to transport antique furniture quite often, and the shop owner used to sometimes tip us a Churchill crown which, considering that Smithfield Market would tip us sixpence, was a small fortune.
