Huge list of CGS coins for trade/sale

Yeah a spanker of a coin. Don't forget it's CGS' valuation, not the price he wants for the coin. Yes, these are his 'spares' lol.

    Guess the grade

Is that a CU-Ni penny? Bloody nice coin.

    Hi new collector

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you're doing well already, good to see you've got the obsessive gene too, you'll go far There's tons of info on here, also a dedicated section for decimal coins which might be good for you for general info. Many experts in all fields here as well, who are always happy to help out so if you need anything just ask. I would definitely recommend grabbing a couple of books if you haven't already, at the top of this thread above your post there is a link to the Rotographic books. Excellent references and some are a must have for any collector.

    silver dipping

Lustre I'm sure is just the reflective properties of the surface, what you're removing is patina. I'm no silver expert but dipping silver I don't think is a massive faux pas, you are removing the patina from the coin which is not part of the original make-up, therefore preserving the coin instead of removing actual layers of the metal itself.

    1922 coin ???

Yeah, amongst other things. I actually find the trident the hardest indicator, the easiest is definitely the placement of the 1 over the tooth, and second the obvious thicker border rim (IMO).

    1922 coin ???

There's a couple of differences although on this variety it is a little difficult to differentiate, in the rarer variety the border teeth and rim are slightly longer, Britannia is a little bit smaller, the upright serif in P should point towards a gap between 2 teeth. The most significant telltale IMO is the 1 in the date should be directly over a border tooth, whereas on the normal variety it sits between 2 teeth.

    1922 coin ???

There is a very rare type of this year but unfortunately this is not that type, it's just the bog standard variety. An intriguing find though.

    1922 coin ???

Yes worked ok, although we can see all pictures there like the planes etc. If you can't remove the link and don't want it to remain there just mention, there's a possibility that you can't edit your post now.

    1922 coin ???

Hi Dave, nothing of value there it's rather corroded. As to the placement I'm not too sure, perhaps there was a tradition of placing a penny inside the house for good luck?
  14. Are the striations in the field from die polishing?

    Runner Beans

Ahhh, this is the epitome of being British. Top work old chap, I doff my hat.
  16. Nice pictures, you've managed to capture them well. You'll definitely enjoy the investment of higher quality coins, well done on getting a base collection too it will be fun upgrading as you go along.
  17. Let's just say that my smallest yacht has 2 helipads.
  18. Nice one Dave, I'll have to convince the other half to come next summer Looks like great fun, especially that 'waterbomb', never seen anything like that before.
  19. I did wonder if it was a storm, it looks good in the video with the extreme blues. Yeah let us know how you get on, I'm interested now... Came back from holiday about 3 weeks ago now, I'm already looking to Christmas
  20. Windows did that to me the other day, now I'm stuck with it too. I'd be interested to see how good the editing software is that it comes with, that could really tempt me to buy one. The time-lapse is really good, but what's going on with the sky near the end? Looks like you've got a rave going on or something

    Beatrix Potter 50ps

If anyone finds any of the Beatrix Potter 50p designs in their change and aren't bothered about keeping hold of them, please let me know. Will take them off your hands. Thanks
  22. That's pretty nifty then, you can't get video display for the GoPro although Slow mo and time lapse you can do. I think it does 4k but you need to buy the Hero 3 (whichever the latest is has it). I also like the editing side, it's pretty arduous getting the GoPro videos imported and loaded into an editor before you can do anything.
  23. Is the panel to the right a holder for your phone or a display? Looks like a nifty bit of kit, any pros and cons compared to the GoPro?
  24. Hence the mountains I suppose, such nice views. The green really reminds me of home. Do you think that area is on whatever the Chinese equivalent of Tripadvisor is then? I say that because Barca has an absolute plethora of Chinese tourists and probably 90% are all going and seeing the same things, eating the in same restaurants and buying the same souvenirs because of one very popular tourist guide. One restaurant has a queue about 50m long every day and everyone waiting is Chinese. Even the local churrería has learnt a handful of phrases to impress the literal hundreds of Chinese customers they have daily, it's funny to see them look in surprise when the overweight, 70 year old Catalan man selling them churros says 'How many do you want' in Mandarin
