  1. Still nice Jerry, the patina looks good on the F77. Although I thought buying coins to upgrade later was a no-no
  2. £8 on eBay. Not sure I'll actually find a better one, definitely not for that price.

Realistic or unrealistic auction site prices

I will take it Rob picture pending if you can send me a photo or put one up here
  4. That's what he says on the site, that they will be for sale at the lower estimate.
  5. Question - Can you make a bid lower than the low estimate? It says that items with no bids will go up for sale at their low estimate after the auction. I'm not saying put a fiver on everything and if no-one bids you'll win it for that much, but say something has a low estimate of 200, can you put down 150 to start things off?
  6. Exactly, so you would think there would be some lustre, somewhere! Oh well, onto the next. I got those coins from Guy yesterday too so filled a few gaps. Need to start on the veiled heads now.
  7. Unfortunately yes, if I'm honest it looks a tiny bit redder than my picture in hand but nothing like the picture I bought it based on. I was expecting something special.
  8. And here's what it actually looks like... Still a nice coin but not better than the one I already have. The seller was kind enough to accept a return and cover the shipping costs though so no harm no foul.

    More Pennies

Surely proofs aren't currency issues but on steroids.. There'd be spots all over the back..

    More Pennies

So you get his photos and also the CC ones in the auction (bonus)

    More Pennies

Steve also has one in his collection (Ex. R Harris, Ex. Dr. Findlow).

    More Pennies

    That's what I said
  13. Be careful putting your phone number on an open forum Colin.

    2015 Battle of Britain 50p

    Anyone know?

    403 forbidden?

I did mention cache clearing although some others still had the problem after doing this. It's like the age old rule of 'turn it off and on again', website problems are normally fixed by clearing the cache, history and cookies.
  16. Just playing around with the data, the low estimate of the whole collection is £72,000 and the high £83,000. So that's what it takes to build up a decent penny collection

    More Pennies

Did anyone see this 1893 over 2? Sold for £317 on ebay. It's been relisted by the winner, at £1,250!
  18. Exactly what I was thinking, the benefit of having 2 sets of photos. Not normally the case and will be interesting to compare the ones I want to bid on when I have the time.
  19. I'm not too sure either, I was going to put my bids in before that anyway and if there's a problem then I'll just resubmit again after the 17th. I agree though, I quite like the relaxed bidding format, easier to money manage and also have a think before you hastily put an excessive bid down.
  20. Thanks Prax. It's nice to have 2 lots of pictures of the same coin, i.e Steve's pictures and also the CC pictures. Helps get a bit more of a grasp on what it might look like when you're not able to view the coins in hand.

I have missed another Kew gardens 50p

I guess back then, but there are so many different 'limited edition' designs coming out what seems like weekly, it probably is a little more difficult to gauge what will be popular on the secondary market.

    George VI Pennies wanted

The F218, F219, F226, the 1950 forked tip and the raised dot penny will all be available in Colin Cooke's May auction too.

I only know about one 1944 triple struck colon dots, and I do believe Pete has it The 1937 1+B you should be able to pick up on eBay relatively easily? Speak with Pete as well about the single exergue line 1940, he just got another one so might have one to sell/swap.

    403 forbidden?

Spoke to Pete (PWA) he says his IP is still blocked and can't get on. Maybe others aren't replying because they also can't get on either
