Which would you choose ?.
Nordle11 replied to PWA 1967's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I think the point is that there are only 2 options. If there is a gap in your collection for a specific year, and only 2 examples were struck that year, one has a big spot of verd on it but in UNC and the other is problem free and in VF, both also cost £10, for example, which would you choose... -
Which would you choose ?.
Nordle11 replied to PWA 1967's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Haha I would prefer a lesser grade coin over one verd or corrosion. -
As your the only one that seems to be getting the issue at the moment, it suggests that it could be a problem your side of things? I would try clearing your cache and cookies and see if that helps it at all. Next time you have the issue, see if you can ping the forum from CMD ok. If that just sounds like jargon, sorry, I can elaborate if you need help with doing that.

Your Beginning Collector Being Burned Story?
Nordle11 replied to scottishmoney's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
A nice thread, surprised it didn't get more responses! The one that got me was an overweight double brockage, a reverse and an obverse brockage stuck together. I think I paid about 100 pound for it in excitement when I first started collecting errors. I didn't realise at the time that it was 2 coins, so when I did realise and sold it on, I probably got about half of what I paid -
A case of trying to cover up their mistakes then. You should have said something in my thread!
-
So do you think the new commem 50p with denomination is an error then? The RM are insisting it's not, which was why I started that thread.
-
So was that purposeful do you think?
-
-
Looks like it's gone to me?
-
Your best chance of knowing is having a coin in hand and a good magnifier/microscope to see if the lines are in relief or incuse.
-
Don't worry about everyone else Jon, at the end of the day if it's not acceptable to you and you're not happy with it, return it. Especially as it's not just a couple of quid. You'll forever be wanting to upgrade it because you know it's been cleaned, so why not just return it and keep hunting for one you're going to be proud to have in your collection?

Click on your name top right, then you want to go to 'Account Settings'. Once you're there you'll see a signature button, that's where you can edit the signature.

I like your new picture Paulus!

So, one of Scott's coins then. Perhaps he reads this forum.. Also reported the listing too.
-
If you use Chrome, right click any picture and go to search image in google, this'll bring up any matches on other sites. He got it from Coindatabase - http://www.coindatabase.com/coin_detail_libras.php?cdb=K060402

He's just changed the photo and the feed in eBay hasn't updated itself yet. Pretty sure he pulled that off the internet too.
-
Of course he does, and makes all his listings private too. You can tell he's an idiot from his feedback left.
-
Among other things yeah Also "Well come here and look at my fucking camera and ur see I took the pics" Maybe he took pictures of the pictures, on his camera
-
I would've bought them, with a max bid of £15,000 of course Then conveniently decided not to pay. His words exactly - "Fine i remove em happy fuck face sold it now anyway for £800"
-
He says he didn't steal the images and they're his coins. Both lots reported. If anyone else has the time please do the same.
-
Yep, so is this one of his. Email sent, do the same Jerry and hopefully it'll scare him off.
-
And another big one running through BRITT on the obverse. Definitely an educational piece. Yes die cracks are for the error collectors, definitely not varieties.
-
We were just discussing that in the die clogs thread, surely it's got to be one the last coins struck with that die before it literally fell apart! Would be nice to own but it's really expensive.
-
clogs, die faults, et al.
Nordle11 replied to bhx7's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I'm not sure TBH, I would go with some sort of corrosion though as it's over the whole coin. -

Not sure what to make of that one David, I don't think I've seen a fire damaged coin before but you'd think it would blacken? Does the white gunk on it come off if you rub it?
