    1903 open 3 variations

Terry, or anyone, can you link to the open 3 on ebay? I'm surprised I haven't seen it from doing the dailies, unless I've skipped over it accidentally.. Thanks

    Bits for sale

    Haha for sure

    Bits for sale

Well I had a toss up between the Gouby X and another coin that's finishing around the same time, they should finish around the same price, but if people know about the Gouby X on here then I'll pass haha I still want an unattributed one anyway!

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Yeah that guy has put up some stonkers, there's a couple of pennies I've got in my watch list right now..
  5. Post mint! I have a couple of those. Not exactly sure how it's done though. REDD - love that brockage, looks great. I sold mine last year and regret it, but I paid £100 on eBay and sold it to someone in Japan for £350, I couldn't say no at the time. It did get me a few extra dates in my date run though!

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Well spotted The guy was an idiot.
  8. I did wonder, but that's really good. Probably not so much for him having to lug all of that equipment around haha!
  9. Pete do you leave all your coins with him or do you take them to him to get the photos then take them away with you?
  10. Just need some second opinons. It looks OK, but I don't know how it could have come about and it's also strange to have similar things on both sides (which indicates to me that it's been in a vice maybe) Anyway, here are some pics, any help is appreciated as always.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

The obverse on this coin does NOT match the reverse, not even close... Link
  12. This arrived yesterday too, with a whopping split through the whole planchet. Would this be a die crack, split planchet, split die, lamination error? I can't find any information about when the crack is on both sides of the coin..
  13. Love the bull head toning, that's crazy! Do you get more of a tone in hand or does the camera really bring the blue out?

Mint error or post mint damage?

The chunk going through the ONE does really looks like a strike through, it's the reverse that's confusing me..
  15. Always good when that happens. After a while you start to get an idea of what coins actually look like based on the type of picture that's there, when I started out I thought all scanned coins were no-gos because I though they were pictures and that they look rubbish! Leaps and bounds eh? haha

    1918 KN pennies

Gotcha, I can see what you mean about the blurred edges too. I have to admit, while the microscope I've got is good for detail, it's not the best for taking 'eye-appealing' pictures with it's bright white light attached.

    1863 penny.....

    Cheers Terry. It's Matt

    1918 KN pennies

A nice coin Cliff, thanks. Is that blue toning just part of the photo or can you see it in hand too?

    victorian coinage

Are we talking about the 'Museum copy' pennies that the one seller keeps listing? They're really bad haha

    1863 penny.....

Hahaha, that's some quality placement. What rev. die is that Terry?
  21. Really love that double struck coin Rob, and that error on your coin is great Terry!
