    Time for a proper hello

Welcome, at least to posting anyway! Nice story too, looks like you've always had it in you to collect coins so you've ended up where you belong

It certainly looks like it's on the coin as opposed to the slab.

    Clubs and societies

I started from change, but that did lead me into a pursuing a bigger collection - you can thank the olympic coins for that. My other half's father had a small coin collection which he showed me once I had a few coins and that's when I decided to collect pennies, I just enjoy the appeal of them and the history behind it all. You're certainly not wrong though, the 'older' gentlemen do outweigh the young by quite a lot in this field, but I suppose that's how it should be seeing as it was another 20 years after the decimalisation that I came along, most of you at least used some of what you collect as currency at one point! I'm not a member of any clubs though, but I live in Spain and they don't really have anything geared towards English coins here. I do prefer forums though, that's just how I've grown up, I've always been online..

See if this helps, just a quick walkthrough on how I did it. (pictures correspond to the points in order) 1) Once you're in the signature section, click on this symbol 2) Then paste your URL into the box 3) It should then show up like this 4) Click and type what you want it to say in the middle of the link 5) Delete the other information either side of what you've typed Then it should just show as what you've typed in your signature..

The link works fine You can get it to say what you want by typing something anywhere in the middle of the link (like 'My Website') and then deleting the unwanted jargon around it. As long as the typed writing stays as a hyperlink there shouldn't be any issues!

Would be very useful indeed! The only other thing I take note of too is the rarity as defined by Freeman because it gives a general idea of the quantity out there. Adding anything now is a challenge anyway because of the sheer number of coins you have, but as it stands it's still an amazing reference for penny collectors!
  13. Sounds like both a broadstrike and an off center strike then! Well done

That was the key for me, too. Some might look a little better but the functionality and sheer amount of users (i.e help and info) that's out there trumps all others. Plus it's free, which really helps when you just want somewhere to display your coin pictures. Anyway, a simple layout is all that's needed when you have content like yours! I've been going through your coins throughout the day today, it's been really good to see such an extensive collection along with Freeman numbers and the occasional note for interesting points
  15. The best tell is whether or not any of the design is missing, I can see some of the bottom left hand of the reverse is missing, making me think it's off center. If you want to be sure, put it up against a regular 10p and see if the size is the same. If it's off center AND broadstruck, then it should be slightly bigger than a normal 10p. But it's definitely off center
  16. It looks like it's just off-centre as opposed to being an off centre broadstrike.
  17. If it's iron it will be magnetic, CuNi will not be..

Second and third everything said about that collection, Rash, it's incredible and certainly now my new go to for pictures (along with Steve's site) I like the theme you went with too great minds eh?

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Who knew counter-stamping a coin with a nationality means it originated from that country! Victoria Irish One Penny Also it's from a 'smoke free loving home', I'm just going to assume they mean a 'smoke, free loving home' because it reads better

£1 - 2 If you want quick prices for coins that there are a lot of, just have a search on ebay for the cheapest 'Buy it Now' coin that's the same as the one you have. That'll give you at least an idea..
