Could I get a value and information on this 1821 farthing with grade,
Nordle11 replied to Patinap's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Completionists probably wouldn't touch anything with a counterstamp on it.. Counterstampists might, like you say, but probably not. The stamp just looks like someone messing around as opposed to something like "VOTES FOR WOMEN". -
Rim Nicks - how important are they?
Nordle11 replied to Nightvision's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Small rim nicks don't bother me, but I know some people who cannot stand them! Entirely your preference, although as Rob says the value will be affected. -
It's good that there are some GB coins over in Germany, there's f*** all here in Spain. They're Euro crazy here, that and bottle caps.. Do you find many over there or is it rare occurance?
-
Thanks P, do you think it's visible with just a loupe or would I need to find a microscope? I'd need to get one anyway to find out about this 1861 "halp" penny I have that I think is a P over F, but has an unknown die pairing for this error! Impossible with the loupe..

Can I ask what the difference between an open and closed 9 on the 1907 is? I have no literature to hand. By the way, nice website Paulus! It's nice to be able to scroll through other's collections and take a peek
-
Thanks Dave, thought that might be the case, but I'm at work and they refuse to install another web browser. Even though IE has had it's obituary, and we are officially a Google company..
-
Thanks Tom, I'd do it myself but for some reason I can't paste any text or links
-
Ooooooo. I felt that burn from here Rob Haha.
-
Post a link Coinery Edit: Found it! I should've known but I didn't realise that they were your coins, coinery! I've been keeping an eye on some of your pennies because nearly all of them are stonkers! I might look to upgrade some of my later dates from your collection

Displaying your collection on the interweb
Nordle11 replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
It really is good for what you get for free. I found best practice was to spend a while playing with the layouts and themes and familiarising yourself with the functionality (it is sometimes difficult to find specific things) and do a quick Google search whenever you run into trouble. The hardest thing for me was trying to remove the b****y comments section from my main screen. Google sorted that for me though. -
Pension info required
Nordle11 replied to Peter's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
I'm not even half-way to retirement age, let alone a pension! It's an ol' boys game this coin collecting haha (no offence of course!) Moneysavingexpert is hands down the best site for all things money related. Saves you a lot of money if you know where to look.. -
Nope, they only charge you if you want the premium stuff and they there's a small charge if you want to exlude the word 'wordpress' from the URL. Some additional themes and extras might cost but there's more tan enough free stuff on there to find something half-decent. It also comes with 3gb of free space, and with all of the pictures I've uploaded I think it's only taken up about 250mb so far.
-
It also has a few nifty side features just to breakdown what's going on by day, month and other views. For example, I can see that your visit to the site yesterday (I'm guessing it was you in Germany ) and a couple of people from the UK as well. It also shows you what other people have viewed, how many times, most visited pages etc etc. Not essential, but quite handy.

Yeah I believe so. iPhone works well enough for me, a slight zoom on the actual phone and then upload straight into Wordpress. You get a choice of small, médium and large when you upload, I go for médium and there's still the option to open an image in it's own tab, in full size, once it's posted to the site. For instance, here's a capture of a re-cut 9 just zooming in on one image from my site.. It works well enough for my purposes!

Thanks PWA! Still a long way to go.. haha And sorry Dave, I meant that I'm not fond of the layout of Omnicoin, which is basic, in comparison. As opposed to the basic functionalities of both sites being different. As Jac says, the quality of the pictures is better, and it feels a little more personal as you can change the format as you like and display your collection however it suits you. I imgane you get more visitors on Omnicoin because of the community, but I put mine up only for ease of access for myself to be able to view them quickly, from anywhere.
-
No it doesn't. Omnicoin is specifically geared towards recording coins along with the community functions it offers. There is A LOT you cannot do in Omnicoin that you have the function for in Wordpress. Personally I don't like the basicness of the layout and general 90's style visuals that you get with Omnicoin, but that's preference of course

Sign up at wordpress.com, it's pretty straight forward to get started once you're in and I find that googling anything you're unsure about goes a long way. Uploading pictures is easy and you can choose sizes and quality etc. They also archive the pictures so you only need to upload them once as well. Best of all it's free and you can look at your coins where ever you want, as long as you've got an internet connection!

If it's the same email every time, just create a rule to delete or move any emails from that address, then you wont even know it's been received. Depends what email client you're using..
-
I've a similar setup to Steve's but I just been using wordpress. It's free and you can edit what ever you want, where ever you want! www.mypennycollection.wordpress.com It's technically a blogsite but you can edit the timestamps on the posts to fit them where you want, and because it's wordpress there's a plethora of help out there if you get stuck..
-
Sorry to go back a few posts but loving the die clash in that penny PWA

I think he's used what he wanted to use, albeit a strange description haha. He has written.. "The modified coin has been engraved with some enigmatic floral scrolling with some decidedly erotic figurative shapes." Maybe he can see something we can't...

He did say VF - AEF, not exactly very optimistic if you're saying it's VF. -

From the Colin Cooke website; (sorry but i can't copy and paste text) -
Welcome Fluke! The forum is excellent, it's certainly the most helpful and you'll struggle to find a question that one of the guys/gals on here can't answer! Look forward to some pictures of your coins

I'm searching through my history but can't find it.. I have THOUSDANDS of ebay visits over the last few weeks Edit: I might have found it when searching on my phone actually, I'll check. Edit, edit: Nope, should've guessed that the eBay app is pants and doesn't show search history. There are sites which sell coins in bulk, such as bulkcoins.co.uk (apt), but it'll still cost you just over 3 grand for the amount you want..
