1858 Large rose SMALL date ,pity its had a clean as a really nice example 👍
-
1922 DOT , very few known. Not the best but like the others i have seen has the die crack on the V of the obverse ,which is probably the best indicator to check on a picture.
-
An earlier strike of a single die type 1915 Recessed ear ,not attributed and dont see many.

Yes,send me a mail if you are interested.

A 1889 with the very wide date not attributed and also 15 Leaves , i doubt the 14 leaves exists being rare with this OBV. A bit dusty and scratch to the left of the queens head but a good example.

Thanks Jerry and sorted now ,my friend is doing the best thing and sending me one of each in the post when he returns from holiday to compare them in hand. The small picture is how it should be,although didnt have a picture of the full coin why he is away and the eBay one i think maybe due to the light or angle of the picture not one in his opinion.
-
Can anyone help me with a clear picture of one please that they can confirm is right. I had one a while ago but never took pictures and now looking at the one that a well known dealer confirmed as being right for sale on eBay when it was for sale previously a couple of weeks ago ,i am again having doubts as the scarce one should have a thin rim ,although that one looks thick 😀 http://www.michael-coins.co.uk/GBproofsets.htm

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154819126000?hash=item240bf062f0:g:GggAAOSwtbxhDoyX Just to maybe correct my post above and a friends picture......... This is one D of DEI to gap and now thinking that the other indicator i mentioned is not right ,as the I is clearly not directly to a tooth ,maybe better just looking at DEI to gap only which is the one i was originally told.
-
Some 1970 sets sell for a premium as there were two dies used for the OBV on the Florin ,Halfcrown ,Sixpence and Half penny. The Half penny is hard to find and collectors pay quite a lot more for one ,D of DEI too gap or I of DEI to tooth. Always worth checking to see if you have one.

Thats quality Blake and a good buy , well bought 😀

Halfpenny ID check
PWA 1967 replied to mrbadexample's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
A lot of the over strikes on the wrong letter or number on the date seem to be were the wrong punch was used , as the person striking them forgot the die was in reverse. This is exactly the same and the opposite letter is the P in penny ,so intitally struck with a P and then again with an F.This could cause a flaw or uneven letter as never going to be struck exactly the same as the first letter and can also look slightly different due to one letter / number being struck through the other. Very similar to the 1858 F/B Copper penny ( B in Britanniar ) that is recorded. Maybe 😀 -

One i bought from Spink the other week not attributed with the Test strike 8 BP1880Af ,you dont see many in a decent grade and the best one i had before had been heavily cleaned.
-
Unbelievable ,i was watching it thinking it might make £450 ish and when it went over £1K ,could not believe what i was looking at. However you look at it though it was a good result for the seller.

I would be happy to pay a finders fee to any forum member if they can find me a MINT 1934 penny. Been looking and asking and happy to pay if anyone can help. We can only try . Pete.
-
Six years it has taken me ,i have looked at a lot and bought a few in that time. Finally even though i have stopped collecting i have bought a mint one ( due to knowing how hard they are to find ) of which the photos in plastic do not do the coin justice.

I wonder if all the ones with a die crack REV D have it ( probably ) ,certainly easier to spot if anyone wants one. -
Penny Acquisition of the week
PWA 1967 replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Yes its your call to post what you want ,although i think the only person your helping is the seller who will be happy anyway to get more than he expected. The hundreds of people going on the forum who dont post ,maybe one of those will be greatfull.I just think to share a coin is if at all at least better posted in the members section. I also wonder if you would of shared the coin for dozens to see if you had wanted it. I am sure you have spotted numerous spending hours looking and would be dissapointed to see a lot more bidders forcing the price up. -

Done a better picture of the 1854 / 3 why they are scarce. -
I had to do better pictures of the 1913 F175 1 + B ,as the others did not look anything like it and people would think they are turning up everywhere. I was pleasently surprised when it turned up in the post 😃
