This has just been on so probably on catch up. A shame that people buy into the modern proofs etc. Notice in this months coin news a dealer states.......if you have some money in the bank give me a ring.
-
The catalogue is hard copy only Matt. A lot of the coins were obviously the plate coins used in the books. The auction catalogue is quite scarce and from memory think i paid about £25 for mine. Christies sale October 1984.

Checked the pictures in the Freeman sale also and definately the same coin.....Thank you

Loads of good research material on old threads here. Otherwise if pennies get the updated Freeman and take it from there -
To add to this thread. I have studied a lot of Pennies that the provenance is wrong. Check the auction sites/catalogues as a lot are sold with provenance that does not resemble the coin. Pete.

One to keep......Hope Freya likes it
-
Never had much with good provenance . This one i bought last week is Ex -Peck Ex -Freeman Ex-Bamford. I am really happy as it does not get much better . F26 1861 5+D its now slabbed but one i will always keep. Pete.
-
Recent purchase and one for me to cross off the list. You may of seen the picture before . F1...........Not the easiest to find in a decent grade. Pete.

The coin you mention you are correct Jerry.......wish i had bought it for the amount originally sold for but did not realise they were so hard to find. I think 2 in 29 would be conservative and have spent twelve months looking for a good one and still only picked up a couple low grade. -
I think they are quality and should all be changed as they will be next year. Chris salmon from Canada was the guy who pushed them forward EX- Cashier and saw the benefit. I got ten of them first run and will always be worth a premium as the first run , even more so as the first Polymer. Worst case is i get my money back

Dont blame me if it gets expensive peter

It wasnt me who sold you something on ebay

If you have one or look at the pictures and look at the base of the 8 Mike it is easier to spot. My eyes are not the best now but could spot one.......although would need my glasses on -

Looking at a dealers list and one being for sale for £1800 in UNC It made me look at this thread and sorry to bring it up again. The Gouby book lists them as scarce and at the time 5+ Known and wondered if anyone had looked for them previously. I have a couple but only low grade. Do you think they are worth looking for and worth a premium in high grade or just something nobody is bothered about ?. Pete. -
I dont mind not winning the league........so long as we come above that other team
-
Getting easy CITY will win the league
-
They are scarce above very fine and although only a flaw penny collectors always want one. Just got to keep looking at dealers lists in low grades they are anything from £15-£50 depending on very good/Fine/very Fine. I was talking to a dealer though a couple of weeks ago who sold a couple in UNC last year and i will keep looking

I fell for that one once were the postage for a few books was a good few quid from an auction but you still got what you wanted Mike . That Peck book is a big heavy thing but you only need one -
The best few have now gone. The others £20 including postage if anyone wants one Pete.
