The Copthorne collection of pennies
PWA 1967 replied to PWA 1967's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Its an auction that is done over a week. You make a bid via email / phone if you are outbid you are notified and can have a think if you wish to go higher. Nice way to do things as rather than a coin being sold in seconds and you come away possibly thinking you should of bid again ,you can have a think first. Works both ways and can also......... not get you caught up bidding and possibly paying more than you should have -

I should of mentioned i bought it off ebay, but sent it to CGS as was keeping it and seemed quite scarce. Only low grade but didnt cost much. Pete.

Lot 3206 Matt. Not really into date widths and not really saying they are rare ,just more obvious. I have an 1889 that the 9 is higher it is that wide could not of been done straight
-
Yes it was Matt although the one i bought was in the same auction and went unsold although no picture or Gouby Ref
-
Thanks Jerry,Terry and Mike. I will keep it
-
Bought an 1896 as although not into date widths this one looked wide without a lens. After buying it did a bit of looking on recent auctions etc and sent a few emails. A couple of people have had it recently who had not seen one before in reasonable condition GEF and maybe was a bit expensive but happy to keep it. The coin is in gouby as BP1896Ad and dont think they are common so wide a date.
-
Looks good though until you realise its got red on like your nail varnish
-
Yes Matt i am sure David knows looks like one
-
Think you might of paid a bit to much
-
Well spotted David a good find if cheap
-
Will post in the morning Thanks Colin
-
Want to make it cheap £25 for both including postage.
-
Should of looked first but the 1983 there is hundreds on ebay Anyway they are between £15-£30. So for both including the £2 silver and including postage still a good deal. Pete.
-
Without sounding a neg head and they sound spot on. I once purchased a coin and was that good a fit i could not get the..... ""£%&*&&^%.....thing out Suggest as anything just try a couple first.

Yes a really nice one i cant find one close to that Must be spending to much time looking at the teeth ,although easier to see with the comparison.

Rather than send individual PM to everyone who bought something. Can everyone please pay so i can post them all together on Monday. Thanks again and will post some more coins on Tuesday. Keep smiling. Pete.
