    More Pennies

The main reason is and may be wrong is that they don’t know them , although will do but an extra charge.Problem with the only two big graders is they have done over 150 million coins worldwide of just about every denomination known and nobody knows everything about them all.I used to send quite a few to ngc some I had the Freeman number on but only occasionally as not cost effective intending to sell them in the near future and only had varieties done in high grade.
  2. It means altered surface / cleaned , which can mean a number of things but in the case of the penny I have it’s been done with a grease or oil in my opinion.
  3. Wiped with a cloth with 3 in 1 oil or grease on.
  4. Sorry to jump on your post ,however i have a 1865/3 for sale. Its been WIPED although R13 and think the price is fair. Gouby BP1865Be £40 posted Tracked Delivery to the UK and can message clear pictures of the overdate as to big to download.

  6. Yes ,i believe Ab is rare ,Ba scarce and Aa ,Bb both common ,is that correct Gary as just what i was told this morning ?
  7. Yes although the two different obverse dies are well known and two different date widths that give four different die combination varieties instead of two ?.
  8. It could of been anyone Bob i guess ,as far as i can see its just a date width variety and probably more collectors made aware of it with the benefit of the internet ?.
  9. Thought i should put my example on this thread ,talking to Michael Gouby he is not sure he has owned one.

I believe it went to £60,000 and doubt very much it sold 😀,another example of starting auctions at ridiculous low prices and wasting everyones time.
  11. I notice the 1827 Penny sold straight away in Baldwin fixed price list for £22,000.
  12. I am useless on a computer but this is by far the easiest one i have used. If you want to crop the picture first ,click crop ,edit size and download. If you just want to just share the picture just click on re size image and type in 800 in the very left hand box ,then download. Only takes seconds once you have done the first couple. https://imageresizer.com/

I would guess sovereign rarities sold it to someone in japan ,maybe even the auctioneer. It makes more sense to me than if someone in the UK had bought it.

Yes it was £100K more expensive a few years ago and been for sale since with offers. Daft starting it so low and just wastes people time IMO 😀

Can you put a link up please and is 5,000.000 Yen about £24K as if so that seems way to cheap ,they are not going to sell it for that. Or have i worked the price out wrong 😀
