Shocking Experience from CGS - Coin Grading Services - Forum Advice Pl
PWA 1967 replied to futurama.shopuk's topic in TPG Discussions
Verd can be on any coin even as a loose particle that has been passed on from another and with grading companies they have different tollerances as to what is acceptable. The main problem is when the verd has got into the metal which in some cases will cause corrosion and damage the surface of a coin. I was quite surprised to see the coin above ,so have blown the images up from the UIN 5854 that Eric sent me. Looking at blown up pictures of the coin which was pictured before being slabbed i cant see anything at all ,so feel it has changed since it was graded. -

I was going to post the details ( DELETED ) of what ebay told me today but then thought that if someone was reading this who does the same type of listing it may help them. Will have to wait and see what happens ☹️

Thats sad as a genuine bidder...........I am tempted to put a bid of £1,000,000.00 in so he does not buy it,but will probably only bid again when its relisted .

I would always phone first as i dont like emails or text messages to try and find something out , but didnt think it was worth phoning America with what was probably a daft question The email reply was obviously a computer generated one with opening times and a telephone number ,but as i said not important.

Joking aside Dave i was going to send you a PM as never seen it before........Do you know how it happens please ?
-
I think its just coincidence that yours (if the finish is correct ) and the crocker one / Richards described in the auction as a bright finish are both wide dates and just random and not intentional. I have had and seen quite a lot of the wider ones that were all MT from memory 🙂 The wider one though regardless of colour is much scarcer IMO

You have better eyes than me Mike if you can see a linear circle . Like quite a lot of the coppers the top edge has had a tiny knock that probably hasnt touched the other and an edge bruise would sound fair. Yes Peter i think your being a bit picky but well spotted.

I have just been asked what indicators there are for this and directed him to Richards site .However another i use aswell as the P in Penny to gap is the shield almost touches the teeth and on the normal one the gap is larger. Dont know if it may help someone else ,so thought i would mention it 🙂

I purchased this 1897 High tide about three weeks ago which arrived today. I have not noticed before that the price i paid has been added on to the information.......Latest auction appearances. Does anyone know please how this has happened ,such as has it been added by the seller or does it pick up the details from the ebay sale. https://www.pcgs.com/cert/82915544 Pete.
