Not much happening on here today 🙂 1913 2+B MS64RB...........NGC 3501417 - 032 https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/3501417-032/64/ Will start it off at £65 including postage and just keep reducing it ,bit like an auction but backwards Please post on here if you want it rather than message me ,which makes it fairer for people with more than 40 posts.

Joking aside Dave i was going to send you a PM as never seen it before........Do you know how it happens please ?
-
I think its just coincidence that yours (if the finish is correct ) and the crocker one / Richards described in the auction as a bright finish are both wide dates and just random and not intentional. I have had and seen quite a lot of the wider ones that were all MT from memory 🙂 The wider one though regardless of colour is much scarcer IMO

You have better eyes than me Mike if you can see a linear circle . Like quite a lot of the coppers the top edge has had a tiny knock that probably hasnt touched the other and an edge bruise would sound fair. Yes Peter i think your being a bit picky but well spotted.

I have just been asked what indicators there are for this and directed him to Richards site .However another i use aswell as the P in Penny to gap is the shield almost touches the teeth and on the normal one the gap is larger. Dont know if it may help someone else ,so thought i would mention it 🙂

I purchased this 1897 High tide about three weeks ago which arrived today. I have not noticed before that the price i paid has been added on to the information.......Latest auction appearances. Does anyone know please how this has happened ,such as has it been added by the seller or does it pick up the details from the ebay sale. https://www.pcgs.com/cert/82915544 Pete.

That is all they could really go off and confirm ,thanks Jon. It also makes me feel that the Hypo was put on after the coin was srtuck.

Penny Acquisition of the week
PWA 1967 replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
No ,your right Blake ..The one i have that is NEF was £40 described as a wide date unrecorded and dont think many collectors are interested in the date widths. CGS have 5 widths recorded for 1890 with the one Scott pictured being different from the 1 to the 9 ,although the full width is the same as the narrow date. -

There is also an 1890 wider date that is unrecorded and not in Gouby. Just thought i would make you aware Rob 🙂 -
If your not bothered about looking at them often ,maybe try just paper coin envelopes in an airtight box kept somewhere cool. It could be anything ,such as being kept next to a radiator wont help . Sure you will get it sorted .

They seem to have just toned due to the air , temperature or light as only the OBV which will happen and the reverse being flat it wont effect the same. Are they in the light or covered up and if so can air get to them which may of even attracted damp or sweat ? I remember seeing a collection at a dealers a couple of years years ago of half crowns that had been taken in by someone in a wooden cabinet and a lot of them were the same. Its normal for coins to tone if just left open to the air or light but seems to be happening very quickly.

Light strike or Wear?
PWA 1967 replied to ozjohn's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Not knowing anything about them but looking at auction pictures are they all just low relief to the OBV ,ones described as UNC or A/UNC dont look any worse than the one above. -
I know your not bothered Mike but have just been talking to Dave about something else and mentioned the 1940. The one i sent he sold on his list straight away but thought he had another ,although when he took the coin out of a flip it wasnt one. I was sure the one i sent him was ok 🙂

The picture was put on by Bob as the one he had ,so hopefully he still has the OBV picture for you 🙂 -
I have phoned earlier Terry.....They have helped me before a couple of years ago ,although he wanted to confirm with someone else who wasnt available and to see if anything is recorded. .One of the reasons i have been given previously is due to there not being any going into circulation the year before ,they did not want pennies to be hoarded or given at Christmas to kids which apparently was common then.If that was one of the reasons it definately worked as 1934 pennies in Mint state are extremely hard to find as you know. All the other bronze wasnt treated ,maybe kids would of been negged out with a farthing for christmas so didnt think it was worth it
-
I think i may of asked on here before and also asked a few dealers without any definate answer. Does anyone know why the 1934 were mint toned please ? !944-46 i have read before about the metal mix although 1934 i have been given a few different ideas but nothing that someone was sure about. As an afterthought i will phone the Royal Mint and see if they can give me an answer 🙂
-
I think its more likely he has sold the one i sent him as was one 100% I will also keep a look out for you to find a better one. When i sent you a PM the other day the other dealer i mentioned is definately worth a try 🙂
-
Interesting story on those Mike. I know the dealer who bought them ,also the underbidder ........What they did with them and how much they sold for. I wont put it on a public forum though but not a good comparable 😂 You will see ones that have sold for £100 etc and think maybe its people who dont have the patience to look or who think they may be scarcer than they really are.
-
Yes i agree Terry maybe a bit less 15 to 1......As a guess 🙂 You can buy them off dealers in UNC -BU for £50 / £70 so either nobody wants them or plenty about and if they were much harder to find people would be selling them for more maybe.

not for circulation,
PWA 1967 replied to craigy's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I dont have a clue what the issue price was but the ones selling in completed istings on ebay are a lot less than the one in your link ,one is in an ebay auction now if you want one and plenty as a BIN , some will probably still be for sale next year. The Chard one is a perfect example of buying to (try ) sell at an inflated price when they have sold out and have put a price on that i doubt anyone will pay. The circus is just that and some dealers may have them collecting dust for years if they are too expensive. My own opinion is the RM dont put enough in circulation ,so they can sell a 10p for £3 as they are doing with the alphabet ones and next week will be the same just another design maybe a £2, I would think most £2 / 50p coin collectors are loosing track due to how many designs have been produced over the last couple of years......Most in Limited numbers
