Good article in coin news Richard and well explained with the pictures. Be good if someone could follow it on with something else as i think coin news is short of something a bit different. I know Peck did a few and Richard done one previously ,also Dave has another article in this month on the £1. HAT OFF Pete.

Thanks Terry . It was the helmet really that i looked at the one pictured looks curved rather than the Ja that is straight. I am often wrong though

I think the seller knew it was a fake ,going of the way he described it and rediscovered it Maybe i am wrong but all looks towards him touting it on here and never posted since. -

Not having a clue how did they describe a proof before 2003.......I assume just proof. This Cameo description is being used on coins from 1937 proof sets as an example of which there are plenty to choose from. I only used VIP as ones that should appear nice and like early strikes have more eye appeal. -

So are you saying there is Cameo Rob as i would probably expect early strikes or VIP to look much better ?. This is a term being used on everything from what i can see even common years. Sorry i had to answer the door in between my post and you had already really answered the question -

When this was first brought up i asked a couple of dealers as weather there was such a thing as Cameo BRONZE PENNIES.. They both replied in there own way. "i dont think so ,some are nicer proofs than others and i just think is was something started by American grading companies" "Is there FU$%" I havent bothered looking at pictures of them since -
Not my thing but just taken it out of a cardboard year set ,pity there was not a penny in Looks UNC and lustrous to me (although i dont know about them) and if your not happy just send it back and i will pay return postage. I didnt even realise the 1954 Florin had a premium untill i have just looked at the price for them £28 Posted. Pete.

Yes i agree they started it and obviously some collectors want the label ,so more and more will start to show here in the UK. -

Is it them saying it or are they just listing the grading companies attribution ?. Thousands are being graded every week ,so dealers will use this to there advantage and describe what it says on the label. The problem can worsen as dealers also start to use as a grade description on raw coins IMO. -

Looking again Kev if its 1916 i am now doubting weather it is...this is what i was trying to say on the other thread that the ear is easier in hand or pictured next to another to compare. Normally the tooth on the 1916 you can tell at a glance. Nobody has corrected me YET so interested to know -

Yes looking at the full obverse picture it does not look as noticable as most 1916 . -
