Halfcrown and Penny LCA unsolds
PWA 1967 replied to argentumandcoins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Yes it did make me think last year in The Copthorne auction with regards a small customer base. A lot were bought just by a few forum members and made me think that there were not as many penny collectors as i thought. -
Perhaps a few around as i got one a couple of weeks ago .

Maybe the quality material you mention Rob is going into auctions rather than being offered to dealers. -

Some dealers have had very little new stock this year so you end up just looking at the same coins every month. The ones who have sold nothing off there site maybe due to everyone already looking at it ,when its the same everyweek. Maybe the ones selling nothing are not buying anything ?. I appreciate coins are not just something you can get from a wharehouse but some sites very rarely add much. Its like the dealers who carry the same stock to shows looking for a new collector the regulars start to drift away i would think. If like me you dont go to shows it means you spend more time looking at auctions. -

Different machines will possibly produce different varieties as Dave has found ?.
-
Does anyone know if the blanks are round ?. If the blanks are round and i am led to believe more than one machine running, a fraction of a difference in the die setting could possibly make a slight difference . Maybe i am way off
-
As i have sold a few and they are all the same to save people messaging me they are £10 each including postage. Pete.
-
Thats a quality idea Peter as we had one done here in the flat as i couldnt fit in the bath . So a waterproof chair and radio sounds spot on
-
Problem with that is some sellers block people who have not paid for an item previously with any seller. So should you genuinely wish to buy something after you wont be able to with some sellers unless ebay lift it,if you have done it more than three times i am led to believe it stays. Just read that again and hope it makes sense

Queen's Beasts: Some Questions
PWA 1967 replied to richardine's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Think i would just phone the royal mint and ask them if not the person who answers just ask to be transfered. Atleast that way its a start and should you have to put your questions in an email you should get a reply .Although i dont have a clue about Queens beasts i have phoned previously with a couple of questions and they have been really helpfull. -
Perhaps wait untill the next LCA you can buy them by the box full.

Feel sorry for him as must have severe mental issues

I notice an 1844 Model penny has been listed on ebay that i suppose could be really a mule as only dated on one side with the lines going horizontal rather than vertical on the reverse. I believe unrecorded and possibly unique ?. Sorry i cant put the link up but price is £1350.00. Just seen this thread so seemed as good a place as any to post
-
