Fifty fifty chance? Really? That would suggest there's a 50% chance it's kosher. So it's a car now? You may remember, when first brought to our attention, she wanted a daft amount (a million, wasn't it?) for a pound coin featuring a minor production error, because she wanted to buy a fish and chip shop. Must've been one swanky chippy…...

Ha ha, yes. Syntax word jazz. Click your fingers hep cats. All these rare Indian silver coins, Gothic crowns, 1933 pennies etc. 'Mum' undoubtedly experienced more than her fair share of prods from the lucky stick didn't she.

Oh, by the way, Upinsmoke. "Growing old is mandatory, Growing up is optional" Hear, hear.
-
Read again. She's asking a pound a pop simply to divulge what the rarity is. No actual coins for sale.
-
What's the betting it's the four legged tripod? The mint have already confirmed this isn't a mistake but the designer's personal interpretation.

She's sold quite a few of these in recent months. A quick search is all it takes to find them available for a few pounds each. I note the bizarre fake toning appears to have gone out of fashion...

What are the odds??? Er, none whatsoever.), didn't it come to her in a Whitman folder of pennies she'd bought at a jumble in the same church? So that's twice she's suggested she may have their valuable penny but still happy to offer it for sale on Ebay. Oh, and I see it appears she's now out of rare Indian silver coins. Plod should knock and have a word.

Apologies. I wanted to upload an image but there was a problem doing so and the empty post I can't now delete. This is a problem I've noticed here in the past. Anyway, here's the image again….. -

Yup. Works for me.

Yes Chris, what I thought too. Look at the foot of the 'F' in RFX. To the left tapered while to the right cut off short at sharp right angles. Also, the middle and upper horizontal bars match those of the E punch used elsewhere in the legends. Further, the RFX 'F' doesn't match the F in FRA. Still, nice find all the same.

Now £255, with eight days still to run. People are mental.

Unusual. https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=385496

That certainly does look to be a likely candidate. The size would probably match too.

I'm loving this. It's what my end of the hobby is all about. I thought the CCF post worth sharing here and, as usual, Rob kicks off with a spot on observation. The word 'unique' is so often used incorrectly but if a coin is an only known (or, to date, noticed) surviving example of a die does 'unique' apply?
-
Yes, I've just read that over on the other forum. A most unusual little coin.
-
Beautiful.

Dear god, was that really worth the effort? I haven't a calendar in front of me but doesn't British Pedant Day fall in Julember? Switch it off and come down now Timmy, dinner's ready.

Or possibly thread. Interchangeable I suppose. They're certainly the best chuckle Ebay have offered me today.
