What incredible coins! WOW! I honestly would not even worry about a tiny little scratch when zoomed in on x20; what examples could you ever find to beat these? Particularly the crown! Very well sourced - It makes me so jealous seeing coins as beautiful as these!!!

I personally would be tempted to value it at more £700+, simply because of the scarcity of the coin and the high price of gold. A very good piece - just a shame about the condition!

I completely agree with you - to the point that I would say it is one of the easiest pre-decimal coins around! It might have been an error? perhaps for 1954? or 50 / 51 / 53 ?

I have a few that are: 3rd, 7th, 10th and 17th. I also have some of the Olympic ones - loose and UNC in packets - but figured they were not worth taking pictures of. I wouldn't really say I collect decimal coins; I am more for pre decimal silver, but I often can't resist pulling special coins from my change! Thanks for posting this picture, as I now no what to look out for!

I agree that non of these coins are really worth a lot. Maybe £40 for them all? Is that too generous or not?

I don't know why wou would want to fake it, but I have a magnetic 1977 crown. I know it is a fake because it is dated 1877. I simply can't understand why you would want to fake a coin worth 50p tops...

Hello all, I have recently found a very weird sixpence. The coin, see the picture, is only half of the usual height. I also weighed them both and found out that the thin one is 1.77g, and the normal one is 2.78g. At first I thought this could be due to circulation wear, however I now realise this cannot be because: A, The coin is still very detailed, particularly on the obverse and B, coin in 1967 were only used for a few more years until decimalization, so virtually all remain around EF to UNC. I can only think that this could be a mint error, getting the blanks wrong? But then again, no coin is of the sixpence size yet much thinner... Please help!!!

Hello everyone, For a while now I have had an 1806 farthing - fourth type from the SOHO mint - in my collection, coloured in silver. It is only now, as I have come across another, which is of the same date but from Ireland, that I wonder why this is? I have enclosed pictures and have thought of a few possible reasons: They could have been coloured to pass as other coins, such as sixpences or half guineas? They may have been coloured afterwards to be put on jewelry? It may have been accidentally done by the mint? Something to bear in mind though with both is that they look nothing like any other coins and certainly did not fool me when buying them; a sixpence has never had "Britannia" on it! Also, in Ireland as far as I am aware, gold coins were never issued so there would be no need to try passing a farthing as a half guinea. I am also looking to, if possible, get rid of the colouring. If anyone has done this before, and more importantly if it is safe, then please let me know. Thank you.

Looks like you got a descent deal! I really like the trade dollar and the 1822 crown - it's a shame it's only worth a little above scrap... Still, I am very surprised they accepted £215 over their buy it now price of almost £400! Well done, I say.

Your 1916 florin has about £4 in scrap also. Plus, it looks to be VF, so with a book price of £10 it's definitely not worth throwing away!

Media hype really can affect a coins value. I can remember that before the Kew gardens 50p coins appeared in the press, on eBay they were selling for about £7 in EF. Now you can get anywhere from £30 in EF to £70 in UNC! If I was a reporter, I would have bought a few quids worth before I wrote the story!
