Thanks Michael. I use Tony Claytons page for prices. He has it at £260 in fine condition. Maybe not the best place to compare prices then.

This surely must have been a bargain hole and all!! Missed it. ??? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-William-Mary-Silver-Maundy-Threepence-Coin-1691-VF-Grade-Scarce/382269249221?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Difficult to say if this is a fake from the picture. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Kew-Gardens-50p-Coin-1759-2009/122780284624?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

How does the seller know the weight....if it has never left the capsule??? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1988-Gold-Double-Sovereign/202105043639?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3Dc351ac674b784be0b157e3a35b33d5db%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D202105043639&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

Never a truer word spoken!! ????

I,ve lost count of the times i,ve misplaced a coin, usually a Monday morning. Stress followed by panic attacks then that sick feeling. Only for it to turn up in the coin tray i,ve already checked twice!!
-
Sounds like Bill Stu!! Don,t let it put you off collecting the Roman coins. I actually have 2 or 3 of his Roman coins in my collection. Rather quite interesting. Not exactly what i collect though. I once bought a joblot of coins at a total bargain from ebay on auction. After a few messages and no response i opened a case against him. The cheeky sod said if i wanted a bargain i should have went to Lidl!!
-
I,m still awaiting a response for the 1906 shilling which i purchased from ebay last week. I listed a pic on the forum about it. Like you it was a poor quality coin i received. Looks like i will have to open a case against him. Did the old boy not have the coin he had pictured? Yes, he is always open to a haggle. He has a site on ebay, cott2556, you will see what i mean about his pictures, although at the moment they look not too bad. Here's one i purchased from him last night. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Queen-Victoria-Halfcrown-1890-/232539939971?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=b8BWj%2FFYvI09EkLSnPduB8JVS14%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Hi Stu. I know this seller as he has bought a few of my coins over the years and i,ve bought some of his. It would have been a simple mistake on his behalf and he wouldn't do you a bad turn. It wouldn't have been a Q/A by any chance? I just purchased an 1890 Q/V halfcrown last night from him at auction on ebay. A nice old gent of 85 who has just recently branched out into selling Roman coins too. Rather him than me!! His coins are usually better than his photos suggest , as i think he is long sighted or short sighted in your case!! ??????
-
He can write up a better description than me, then says he knows nothing about coins. As you said, its strange he missed the WRL on it. I,ve reported it. ?
-
Possibly a fake....of course it is!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sovereign-Coin/292312858788?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Thanks for the interesting link

Not for us beginners. Way over my head Jerry!! I would have taken a fiver for it. Thats why it pays to know your stuff i suppose.☺
-
Hi Jerry. Could you elaborate for us beginners by what you mean by it couldn't exist? Am i missing something obvious? Apart from the uneven wear except for the date which is clear as day, i cannot see anything wrong with it make me suspicious, although i wouldn't pay a penny for it. Why duplicate such a bad copy? Thanks.
-
Hi Stu. I went to have a look at the forgery.net website and it said the domain with up for sale.
-
I never knew there were any RRITT errors of this 1817 shilling. But with my limited knowledge on coins, i may well be wrong. So if his claim is correct, this would make this coin quite an expensive purchase, not £15.
-
I would say the one on the right too. I find the easiest way of distinguishing them is to make sure the nape of the neck is pointing to the centre of the P. And off course asking the seller if it weighs 8 grams.
-
Cannot believe the blighter has had bids up to £78 already for it with 6 days to go.
-
Yes, i,ve even seen them described as genuine silver proof copies...really?? I,ve reported the perpetrator. ?
-
This sold for around the £800 mark during the week. Now he has it relisted. Is it kosher? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Q-V-SILVER-GOTHIC-CROWN-1847-No-Time-Wasters-Please/263292144084?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

....Maybe he thought it was from the battle of Hastings when he dug it up. ??????
-
Now that you mention....we just had a new bathroom door fitted...

I did once attemt to paint a Peter Rabbit 50p, how easy can that be i thought......but i ain't going to embarrass myself by adding the picture. ???????
