https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1903-half-Crown-very-Rare-in-this-condition-Coin-2-6-king-Edward-VII-good-grade/173179241284 really from his 1903 set was it lmao. Insta scammer trap alarm went off

There were coins mostly of nothing grades like fine and good fine with the obligatory 1966 and 67 pennies. I bid for the lot as I was willing to get stuck with more dross as the 1887 half-crown would of been worth it along with a few other coins. But that's not the point. The point is the deception. I wouldn't do it so nobody else should do it. tell me the bloody coins been polished to death in the description I still have the choice knowing the exact state of the coins weather I am going to bid. He is on the blacklist and will not be getting any business from me in the future. Just the fact that it really feels like everyone and his granny is a thief or a scammer. I used to just deal with a few international guys who were great but sadly no longer with us and the crap I see being peddled by so called reputable dealers is just laughable.

same.

It's not worth the effort. Looks like it will be the end of buying online for sure. Will have to go to auctions myself at least I can purchase confident as I would see the coins close up and personal. Too many shisters out there in the marketplace who just scam over and over again. Lost faith I don't trust any of them.

yes defo same coin but also I believe its been photoshopped as well those scratches to the left are hardly hairline but on his pic the do not show at all nor does the rim edges. In fact it evident the pic has been altered. The coin has been polished. Although I am really annoyed at the ambiguity of the coin conditions there are 52 coins in the lot and @ £54 it's not the end of the world there are some nice coins even if not scarce. Like a VF 1949 brass threepence. UNC george V farthings 1918 - 1923 -1934 1920 half penny UNC . Just bites that the star of the lot was hardly a star not even a glimmer

unlike this piece of crap that landed on my doorstep this morning. How on earth they can make a picture look so different is beyond me. Hard to believe it's the same coin
-
Very clear? I am pretty good with overdates and there might be a shout for a partial 1 inder the 2 but no way a 6 . Not from what is shown in pics
-
Yes I'll do it properly later. was under the influence of meds last night. Madness really never get anything done. Normally wake up look at the screen and say to myself "yes well what are you trying to show me " lol. Check your 1892 farthings as well 2/1 think I found 1 will post pic later

Exactly my problem god knows what I actually could be sitting on potentially. I must of looked at this coin 100 times but never for any specific reason until I noticed it is unlisted 1872 Die 108 BRRITANNIAR Shilling
-
Well I just stabbed in the dark really. I thought the O looked strange like struck over another O sideways or and O over a numeral 0?
-
well they ain't the prettiest ever seen but £20 wasn't a bank breaker

This is where Ebay is at fault and is blatantly breaking commerce & trading standards practices. This guy and his rust bucket crap of misleading and fraudulent BS detecting finds has been reported by a whole host of members from this forum and yet he is still allowed to extort decent folks money. The closest that piece of garbage has come to dirt was if he dropped it from his pocket. Disgraceful and sadly a growing force on and off line in auctions. I remember posting before when I entered (rare error) in ebay search and it returned 48,000 auctions you can bet your life 99% of those are bogus.

Is this the R/E Variety?

How can you tell if a coin has been "lacquered"?

you would notice straight away if it was lacquered it's kind of like looking through a thin film of water and very very shiney just as an old piece of varnished furniture looks. From the pic it doesn't look it . I don't know if you can see on mine that glisten look. Thats the lacquer against the light. Sorry crap photo but I have my investigating microscope on lol -

Picked this up. Unlisted EBRITANNIAR 1881 sixpence. Although very subtle I hope you can see the underlying E beneath the B it's a little offset tilting anticlockwise

Take a cheap shot at them I do. I wouldn't trust an LCGS grade or CGS which is one and the same . Any TPG that slabs their own coins for resale cannot be trusted. Conflict of interest, there would also be a huge bias towards overgrading the coins. Which has become more apparent if you look at the stark contrast in coins of said grade with one being so much higher than it should be.
-
LCGS would body bag that. I saw one on ebay beautiful gothic florin with a really small dig on the cheek the rest of the coin was flawless. They details graded it as field damage . I have also seen a few rarities wrongly attributed and this seems to be a common failing for NGC and PCGS but that's a good thing for buyers

£90 registration still apply?

Surely this is a modern replica or forgery??
zookeeperz replied to Martinminerva's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
We have for quite a while now and was the reason for the thread been actively reporting anything suspect or misleading bur ebay answer only to their shareholders. In fact they actively support fraud as premium ebay sellers have protective feedback ratings. So even if you did give a 0% rating it would never show up. I have reported at least 50 fake sales and all are still trading the same garbage. It needs a big concern like watchdog to swoop on them -
