  1. i'll tell you after you give your guess on what you think each coin grades at.
  2. I went by what was in Davids book . The only thing is with the coin pictured It has both characteristics of obv 1 I of Elizabeth to gap First A in Gratia to Gap bit has obverse 2 marker on I of DEI as it points to a tooth rather than a gap?
  3. Did you find many 1999 with a inherent strike flaw in front of Elizabeth's Nose spreading across to the rim? the flaws are on the cheek ,behind the head and the truncation. Identical in every way.
  4. From your picture that is 1+A I of elizabeth to space between teeth . Davies says this die pairing on the Proof is unconfirmed
  5. Ok chaps Guess the grades This should be fun
  6. I have seen it so many times if you listen to the auctions very carefully you can even hear the conversations between the auctioneer and room bidders. Even if you bid 500 as your max he will say to the interested party" bid £500 and that will clear my commissions" (they don't like these bids too much hard work). It negates the who bid first rule because you will never know anyway. And he probably nudge nudge wink wink'd a deal . Most of them are there every auction. Old pals act. Internet bidders are a faceless entity . Far easier to get paid there and then than to email internet bidders with all the spiel . Just creates more of a paper trail. If proof is in the eating of the pudding the only two bids I left I lost with the exact same price as the winning bid. Every coin I bid on live and won . I won no problems. I will never leave bids again.
  7. Wow that is right up my street Very very nice Rob. Lock it away I am thinking of becoming a cat burglar
  8. That's bad I would of let rip. I guess you had to crack it back open?
  9. I have seen some of those slabbed and even from this far away you would have to be blind not to notice both sides are a toothed border. I only noticed as I was looking on the census to see how many were graded and what the top grade was. I just think with both the US TPG's they tend to ignore any kind of variety on British coins. this being a prime example. But I will not moan it was my gain this time around
  10. yes I was just thinking that. I'll just put it down to lighting there are enough markers to confirm both are beaded . Thank you gents
  11. Why is the lighthouse on the left twice as wide at the top? the mouths are different the one on the right her lips curl downward?
  12. Hi good people. Here are two farthings the dark one is the beaded border farthing but supposedly so is the light one on the left but it doesn't have that same rock formation to the left of the lighthouse and the broach is lower set is it the mule? some of the teeth resemble teeth but most look like beaded dots. Kind of confusing?
  13. I went to the bank the other day and just for fits and giggles i changed up £50 in £1 coins took them home and had a butchers at them. Oh my it must be the worse coin ever struck (for errors or design faults) half of the exhibited unusual flaws like extra metal which seems to have plagued all the decimal coins post 2000 . missing designs . the most common were the difference in where the bottom of the truncation meets the hologram box and at the tip of the tiara where it intersects the brass outer rim
  14. 1 million were struck at the festival apparently . Seems an awful lot to me ?
  15. Ah yes you have all four but what I meant was there are no references in books to confirm they exist apart from the asterix in Davies that means unconfirmed. So I guess it is the same as many unlisted varieties they are out there it is just the book publishers don't seem to want to recognise them or owners are keeping the info close to their chest
  16. I am surprised to find a highly skilled team of "experts" looking for victims in a forum . Reading between the lines you must all be very wealthy . I would of thought a TV campaign would of been more upfront. Unless it is what it is just another troll looking to exploit whomever they can. Try ebay you will be amongst many friends and competition is always a healthy thing of course as long as it is above board. Forgive me if I waste my money. I think you should tell that to the collectors who sell coins for $1000000+ . True to say bitcoin may well be the future but for now it is what it is a Bit of something that could be something or could be nothing. And by your appearance here I hardly think bitcoin is setting the world alight is it? Good luck though sounds like you need it Have a nice day
  17. I wonder if they are related https://www.ebay.com/itm/Great-Britain-Penny-1998-Badge-of-Henry-VII/362141993716
  18. yes thats the same reverse with 2 ID markers but only for the business strike
  19. Im looking at it. only mentions the business strike nothing about the proof?
  20. I think it is a case of the misinformation/rumour passed on and on. It is probably more likely the blue case was for the festival set struck at the festival and the black case was the set struck at the RM. The green box with the single crown being much scarcer than the burgundy had to be the one struck at the festival and the burgundy issue was from the RM. It makes so much more sense.
  21. where is the info for that nick?
  22. According to Davies * given for value as in not seen . I looked on Michael Gouby's site and 1B on the proof not listed there either
  23. That's the elder cross gender sister Vicgeorgia
  24. LOL actually his comment probably did him more harm than good unless he is misinformed and thinks the coins picked up at the exhibition were all VIP proofs because of the occasion? That is one violent draw it has been sitting in? Perhaps a few earthquakes were involved
  25. Yes I forgot that part about the I and @ Nick thanks for the extra ID info
