  1. Hi all, Is there any way to distinguish between a sterling 1920 threepence and a debased 1920 threepence? Thanks Non
  2. Thank you all for the input. It sounds like a dark art to distinguish the two...

Have you looked at AWS? Where I work, we are an authorised AWS reseller. I know that they used to do a media hosting service. It may be worth looking into AWS S3.

    groat grabbing

I'm new to this so at the moment I am digging every signal. The 400 has iron audio. So it 'grunts' if it thinks the target is iron. I can discriminate iron out if I want to.

    groat grabbing

The 400 was picking up a piece of iron wire about 6mm in length and no bigger than 1m width at a depth of abut 4" last week. I couldn't work out what was causing it to go off until I got the Carrott into the clod and found that tiny bit of wire.

I bought a Garrett 400i and I am pleased with it so far. The Iron audio is a nice feature. No exciting finds yet but I have only done about 40 yards of a 7 acre permission
  9. I use Quadrum capsules for my better coins. The protect them, I can see both sides without handling the coin and they make trays to take them. The only thing you will struggle to see with them is the edge. They are not the cheapest but I like them. You can also easily remove the coin for photos etc uf needed.

How fast will verdigris spread on slabbed silver coins

Cheers Pete, that was zoomed in with my phone. The coin is very nice that tiny spot aside.

How fast will verdigris spread on slabbed silver coins

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would post here. I have a German Mark that is slabbed by PCGS that has the slightest pin prick of Verd on the reverse. It is not a high value coin being a 1914 D but would you break it out and treat it or leave it in the slab and see how it develops?

    Pennies High grade.

I will take one please Pete. I will send the payment over tonight.
  13. So, as you all know from the repeated question threads I am only just getitng into this so I am bound to make some major cock ups along the way but I thought I would share the odd bits and pieces I pick up as I go along. I would welcome any comments regarding grades etc The more you guys comment the more I learn. I plan to add pics as and when I get the coins. Thanks Non

I would loved to order an AT Pro but it was out of my price range. Hopefully the 400i will be good enough for all bar sea water. I have my insurances in places and 2 small permissions but need to join the local club

I took the plunge and ordered a Garrett 400i today.... lets see how many shotgun shells I can find
  20. Still a LOT to learn but you guys are helping me all the time
  21. Nonmortuus

    Clod shot,

I am on the brink of making the jump and getting a Garrett 400i. I have a few small permissions in place (about 10 acres all in) but I am hoping I can gain the trust of a few farmers once I have got some feedback from these land owners to get me on 1 or 2 bigger permissions.
  22. Exactly what Rob said. If you are not happy ask for a return and refund or alternatively ask to change the item for something you do want?
  23. I have had a couple off Rendel and they have been fine
