I grabbed a couple as well. I would be interested to know where you get the 2x2 trays from? -
It seems if it's PCGS slabbed and the colours are tweaked (compare the seller pics v the PCGS pics) you can triple your money!

Not sure if this helps but azda posted the application form previously: www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/9749-cgs-submission-form-query/

I know I have posted these elsewhere on the forums but here you go again. Two examples of the same coin type and year graded by CGS and NGC. I would argue that the CGS is a higher grade coin but they are graded roughly the same. Everyone on here seems to suggest that NGC are more strict on their grading but the below example seems to show they don't. Is this a one of? Generally are NGC stricter? Graded CGS 82 Graded MS64 by NGC

I am just worried about American companies grading British coins. Do they know all the varieties? Do they care about them? Will the take into consideration mint wipe marks on 1902 proofs etc etc. Pretty much the same concerns Paulus has.

http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/2016-11-16/monumental-hoard-of-civil-war-coins-unearthed-in-lincolnshire/ What a feeling it must be to find something like this.

I am following this with interest as I have a few more coins I would like to entomb (for various reasons) but I am not sure whether to go LCGS after the recent changes. PCGS seems like the logical choice so if you do go down this route Paul I would very much like to hear about how you get on.

Queen Anne VIGO Five Guinea coin

The boss had let me log on to watch it. They are on lot 113 now. -
Ah if it is VF at best then I certainly overpaid

I didn't have an example of this so tried to pick one up relatively cheaply. This is what I got. The pic doesn't show it but it has a nice even mauve tone in hand. It was sub £12 so, for now, it will do.

Not at all but it was more than I was prepared to go. It's a lovely example. -

I think it was an 82 Paul. I was watching it but it went for far more than I was prepared to pay -
Penny Acquisition of the week
Nonmortuus replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
@azda are prices in Spink etc driven by realised auction prices? I have never actually asked anyone on here how the pricing guides get to a certain price on a coin. I ask as the prices for George V Halfcrowns in CCGB and even Spink seem to be way off the types of prices higher grade stuff is realising on ebay etc over the last year. -

Good luck with that! We have some super sleuths on here . You have some cracking coins for sale, I often check your stock but your pricing has always made me steer away unfortunately. -

I actually picked up 2 from the same seller at the same time. This was the other: -
George V 1911 Halfcrown Axis Rotation
Nonmortuus posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I managed to pick up two nice examples of 1911 Half crowns recently. The one has the usual alignment of Obverse and Reverse however the better of the two has a noticeable axis rotation. Has anyone else come across this with George V Half crowns and specifically 1911? If this a fairly common thing? I ask as I have not seen this on any of my other George V Half crowns. -
