    Coin cabinet

I agree with Rob. You would expect the out gassing to reduce over time so if the cabinet is question is made from freshly cut and dried oak I would imagine it would have more of an impact than a cabinet that's a 100 years plus old.

    Coin cabinet

I believe the tannins in oak, as an example, turn silver black Pete.
  3. I nabbed one, thanks @Paulus!
  4. Talking about the Midland a few dealers do accept card but cash is king. If you can turn up with notes you always stand a fair better chance of agreeing on a price you both find acceptable.

    Recent Hammered Acquisitions

Get the slab on a hard surface and one firm but not hard hammer blow to the top of the slab will usually crack it enough for you to safely remove the coin. I don't mind slabs at all but have had to remove a few that have had a spot of verd develop post slabbing.

Martin is a good guy. I have only bought one off him so far but I was more than happy with it.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

If you click 'listing' in the text above on ebay it takes you back to the original sale so you can view it.. Try it on ebay.
  9. Sorry to hear you did not get it. I was watching a few but could not get on to bid.
  10. What did it go for in the end Rob? I struggled to watch any of the auction due to work.
  11. A keeper for my half crown collection
  12. I love the toning on the reverse Paul. I would love a 1911 proof set but other things keep catching my eye meaning funds go elsewhere!!

    Pennies High grade.

Can I take them both please Pete?
  17. Rob, make a backup of your bookmarks. Plenty of guides on youtube on how to back them up in Edge, Chrome, Firefox etc so you can restore them when needed.
  18. @zookeeperz do you have any contacts in the States you can send them to in the first place and then ask them to ship them over? It has worked out far cheaper for me to have a friend ship over from the states than to accept the international delivery costs from ebay.
  19. I went to Windows 10 and have not looked back since on 3 pc's of various ages and configurations. It is stable and does what I need. A lot of the gripes are down to user error over anything else.
